The USA game was hardly as important as Euro 2008 .

£2 Serbia @190

France bet matched
.

What you saying? They weren't trying? They had their best players on the field.. You think they wanted to get humiliated by the USA. Even England managed a draw with the USA. So that makes England better than Spain taken at face value. And they won have won if it wasn't for that nob head Green.

Backing the outsiders would have worked great in 2002

Brazil won in 2002. They were the favs. What you tripping on?

I don't see why you've bothered to back teams that haven't got any chance of winning.

As has been said you should've just had £40 on Spain instead of all these sh1te bets, at least if Brazil win it you'd be £40 down instead of £200. It doesn't make a difference if you have 800/1 on some useless team.

Backed and layed way to many for my liking, But its not my liking so it makes no difference

But he / She (Probably he) has put a lot of time into this thread for people that might want to take an interest in it

It's he's thread, And he's done nothing to be critisized for

It's paid for and the bets are on

All the best with em

I take it the concepts of backing to lay and running a book are ones you haven't picked up in your 18 months on Betfair, xoxo?

I like the outsiders you've kept green, tobermory.  I especially agree with keeping the African nations onside, as I expect two of them in the quarter finals and one in the semis.  Taking on Germany seems a bit risky after last night.  Are you considering a correction there while it's still relatively cheap to do so?

Cheers All Over, Sleepwalker and Joe Happy

Sure Brazil won in 2002.  But with a similar strategy , even laying Brazil (and Germany) from the start , by the Quarter Finals, if you were on Senegal,USA,Korea + Turkey at 100-250 , then very easy to go green on the favourites too.

No Spain did not want to lose to USA, but they hardly 'choked' , more like they were complacent and didn't have the edge  in what was a bit of a mickey mouse competion ,than they would have had in the real thing .USA played well , Spain badly , but there have been far more bad displays from Brazil and other contenders in the last 2 years than their have been by  Spain.

As for  'why not just have £40 on Spain so you don't lose £200 if Brazil win'  . This is less than a quarter of the way through , i don't plan on being £200 or more red on Brazil all the way . I am prepared to risk that, but although Brazil might win they might be 0-1 down on 80 minutes of the quarter final along the way , so there will be chances to cut the losses by using large greens on the others.

Rockmonkey , your book looks good , Serbia need a result v Germany but i think they have a better chance of that than the odds suggest.

Actually i layed Germany again , i think they are good at disposing of inferior opposition and a bit of an overeaction to winning their easiest match . In the Euros they beat Poland easily but then were outplayed vs Croatia in next game and i think Serbia will cause them problems.

Also i still see England having a better chance.

Hmmmmm , came home expecting to see Spain at 7.8 ish and thinking of backing again if much above 8 .Very suprised to see them 6.6 , layed them and again later.Think they have to drift further when people really look at the group situation.

Can't see why Germany are nearly half the odds after 1 match so laying still.

I'll do the Table tonight Internet .

Basically started with £279.40 Bank  and was looking to at least make that into £500 so need to be be +£220.60 on the winner . Of course i have to be prepared to take risks for that with some big reds on strong teams, so no thought of going 'all green' at an early stage.

Argentina are the only really big red now and they'll probably stay that way for a while unless they get into trouble in a knockout game . Reduced Red on Brazil and Germany to less than £100.

Have to say going off Spain at the price now. Incredible that they are a shorter price now after losing to a no hoper team than they were before!

Just working out another Lay of them.
By:

Of course actually wrong there , Spain were 5.1 or thereabouts before they played , but now only 5.6 after  that shocker and having a tough opponent in final match and maybe tougher in Last 16. Makes no sense to me.

Amended my Switz lay to 140

Backed them £2 @210

So tempted to go level on Spain, reduced my green on them to less than £100 . Whatever they do tonight can't see why , needing to beat Chile , they will be any shorter than they are now. Think i'll leave it though.

33p matched and then market goes the other way ffs

Amended my Holland bet to 10.5 as can't see 11 getting matched tonight unless Spain score a few which don't look likely.
