Alpine - Women's Giant Slalom

Jansrud close to giving me, at least a superb payout. I will try my luck again in the Women's Giant Slalom.


Tanja Poutiainen - 9/1 BWIN Tanja had a small back problem during the early parts of the season and therefor her form was not up where it normally is, for a long time. Won the 1st race in Soelden, then the problems started and it took her some time to get back to full form. That happened at the last Giant Slalom ahead of Vancouver, where she was simply sensational in the 2 runs and totally demolished the opposition. She was fastest in both runs and won by over 1 second, a very big margin in this discipline.

Tanja was 2nd to Mancuso in Turin 4 years ago, She has gold and silver from World Championships and if she can produce a display like she did in Cortina one month ago, you would be a very brave person to bet against her.


Denise Karbon & Federica Brignone Generally 15/1-17/1

The older master of the discpipline and the new hope for Italy.

Karbon has been hit by injury worries this season, but she has been dominant before in GS. She claims to be 100% fit now and says the hill should suit her perfectly. If she can put that into race, remains to be seen, but I would not count her out. 2 years ago she was around Evs. with bookies to win in this discipline and she was the 1st round leader in the opening GS of the season in Soelden by some margin. Think it will possible to get 20/1 on Betfair.
Brignone is 10 years younger and just bursted on the scene in the beginning of the season. She looked like the new queen of the discipline to me, then she lost the form totally for a while. Won a small GS race ahead of Moelgg and Karbon a few weeks ago, that should mean she is on the way back. On her day, she can win this event, no doubt.



The rest?
Zettel, very stable. Also very fast. But this event is so open, she is not my choice to the current price.
Hoelz - Also very good of course. Think she can do well here, but a lot of pressure on her and it has to be spot on in 2 runs.
Vonn - Not for me, though it is said she did beat Blardone in a practise run once a few years ago in the discipline. She is capable, she really is, but has shown about NOTHING this season in the event.

Paerson - Not for me. Probably the biggest fighter and one of the all time greats, but just a bit too much to ask for her to win a GS in an Olympic Event.

Maze - Will have nothing to lose, surprised big time to take silver in the Super G. On her day, can win this.

Rebensburg - Potential and could be very dangerous.

We could go on all day, it really is a lot of if's and but's.
