I remember hearing last night on BBC that the curling rinks all keep the same stones game to game and that one set of yellow stones on rink (not sure what its called) no1 were very poor giving a huge edge to the red team every game. They also said that the yellow had only won once on that ice rink (?) and by my calculations there must have been around 21 sessions!
Red 20 Yellow 1
I've done some research and cant find any more info & I cant work out whos playing on that ice tonight, can anyone help?
I've worked out the playing surface is a called a sheet :) Ok im not exactly and expert on curling but there are 4 sheets this games, sheet A,B,C and D, I'm struggling to find results by sheet, if i can find this i can check for this red bias and bet accordingly.

ok, during the competition the 5th man from the team (alternate) spends their free time "matching Stones" they throw all stones at the same pace and line. this enables a nation to discover any rouge stones. ie - stones that curl more or that are slower. this information is usefull as during a match the skip has a better idea of what "ice" to give the player that is delivering these "dodgy" stones, thus reducing the margin for error. when these "matching" sessions are taken its often the case that a set of stone sturns out to be poor/dodgy/sh1t! therefore the teams will all spot these stone and nobody wil want to play with them - hence the commentators talking about a bad set of stones.
hope this helps

4 players on each team 2 stones each target (house) is the series of rings Idea is to get most stones near the centre of the rings If you win an 'end' you lose the final stone for the next end

first 4 stones connot be removed from play if they are short of the house until the second players stones. this is called free gaurd zone rule and it encourages a more interesting end and stops teams just belting each others stones out.
