I believe it means, the market is settled on who is first past the post - not on subsequent disqualifications days later for drugs etc

Yes, days later I understand. In all other sports the market is settled on who receives the gold medal at the ceremony,though.

What happens if the FPTP team gets DQ'd before they receive the medal? The title says both FPTP and Gold Medal Winner - it is confusing.

It simply means, First Past the Post who wins the gold medal. I don't see how you can get any other result for the 2 combined
The medal ceremony has generally been pretty much straight after the events finished

I probably am over analysing. The chance of something like that happening is minimal and I would guess FPTP wins no matter what.

I just think BF should have chosen better wording.
