Dear god this women's Canada (Div 1) Slovakia (Div 2) game is going to be a cricket score. Canada regularly maul teams in there own division!

was on u11.5 and all looked good but switched with big stake at 10-1 with 5 left and got stung :|

Good grief unders... and I thought I was bricking it! What odds did ya back at? Very tough to watch the Canadians homing in on goal as soon as the puck is cleared.
had backed 300 at 1.19 for u11.5 during that 3rd period when 5-1
then when 10-1 with about 5/6 mins left couldnt see them not scoring again so thought me 300 was lost so backed over11.5 at 1.32 for a few bob :|

A little anxious backing these second round of ladies games after my nap lost last night.
US -8.5 seems a reasonable bet, Russia lost quite heavily in the Worlds last year if I recall and if Finaland can knock 5 past em goodness knows what the US can do if they take it seriously. I'm having a little play on the US but not giving it the Nibbsy bravado :p

A win for the US of any score will do to advance to the SFs though... ala Sweden last night... really depends on their mindset.

I find it interesting that Russia is so poor. they obviously have ice hockey tradition, and generally russian women are great at sports. not enough money in women's ice hockey so great female athletes choose other sports?

i have 40 quid to invest on this canada game. im thinking -6.5 but im a bit too nervous. someone convice me! :D
jeany, it's not a cert by any means... but very good value IMO and I've done well so far.
I'm not saying Canada won't cover the spread, but it you look at the result from the 2006 tournament, only one game was won by 7 goals or more.

Yes, but this is in Canada. So you might as well give them a goal just with that. The only reason I can't see Canada doing it is a lack of cohesion amongst the lines, if they gel quickly it has a very good chance.
That I agree with, a hot crowd could motivate the Canadian players to keep going for goals.

Curious game, a dead rubber as both have qualified but Canada will want to win to avoid the US in the Semis. Canada beat the Swedes 7-0 last year and with Canada being in there own country I feel that adds a goal and gives the team an extra determination to play hard for all 60 minutes. Didn't see Sweden's last game, but the statistics show Slovakia had a meagre 16 shots and let in 2 which pinpoints goaltending issues.

Just researching now the later games, German squad very domestic based. Give me a few.
Despite being swedish I'm pretty happy with the result ATM, backed over 6,5 at 1,31 layed off at 1,03 and its not even the end of the first period. :)
Germans put in a disgraceful performance on their home ice at the worlds, though this squad does have half a dozen or so NHLers. Looking at the Sweden roster it oozes class with some big names, Lidström and Zetterberg obviously spring out but Lundqvist the goaltender I rate very highly.
These extra couple of days the Swedes have had to gel will be invaluable, much like Canada last night your just hoping the lines pitch a right wavelength that they all can play to sharpish or it could be a frustrating night.
None the less I look at the class and just simply can't help myself but back the Swedes.
