yes, Sir Denis - brutal it was. Didn't he bounce back to medal in another event? Busted his leg in motorbike accident... was looking forward to seeing the 'Herman-ator' at this Olympics but he retired at end of last year sadly

Despite the horrible look of the crash, Maier was able to walk out under his own power. That put him on the cover of Sports Illustrated and made him a well known sportsman around the globe. Maier won the overall World Cup title in 1998, as well as the Super-G and giant slalom season titles, and placed second in the downhill standings. In 2000 and 2001, he won the overall World Cup title, as well as the season titles in downhill, Super G, and giant slalom.

You can catch Meyer and some of the other big ones on You Tube. Klammer says he went so fast cos he was shi**ting his pants. Anyone who skies will realise how awesome these athletes are, just amazing.
Vonn , just too strong, both mentally and physically, sure to take at least one more gold probably more. That was a tough course today, one of the most exciting i have seen. The rest of the runners from here are just ballast.
