Wy do they not put all the defenders in front of the goal. Goal seems small enough to be covered by 2 or 3 players. PSometimes they stand in front of goal so i wouldnt think tis not allowed to stand in that goalkeeper area. cheers.

I think defenders are allowed to stand there , but I sure wouldn't like to be doing that when the other team fire their slapshots from just a few yards away !!!
or you put a sumo as goalie...no room for the puck to pass through anymore!

Its not just a case of putting someone big in goals, its a skilled position and a very good netminder can make a big difference
