That's really disappointing news, expected in all honesty, but still.

Big hole left in Betfair's midweek schedule, hopefully they will introduce a new track to compensate?

I can remember Ann von Rosen riding lots of odds on shots back in the day.

Be sorry to see it go, from memory it was one of the first tracks that Betfair offered in-play along with Aqueduct which is also going soon, Penn National, Charles Town and Tampa Bay Downs. A sign of the times around the world with closures in South Africa too. Hard to believe all UK tracks will continue the way things are going.

It's very sad but I was expecting this. It's more profitable to sell the land to build flats and houses, this business is dying slowly and woke ideology is growing and wants to cancel horse racing. I believe the next victim is going to be Aqueduct.

Looks like a stay of execution, its Twitter page has stated there will be live racing from January 2024

Good news but isn't all about the casino gambling for survival?

*isn't it all about.

interesting that 37-odd external betting outlets relied on live racing continuing in the state to continue operating themselves. The article still makes the buy out sound a little questionable.

and then this

Any film buffs on here?

Turf Paradise was used, unforgettably, in the excellent 1990 crime movie "The Grifters".

For those who've never seen it, a free opportunity here.

Not scheduled on Betfair.
Hopefully an oversight.

The Arizona Racing Commission approved by a unanimous 4-0 vote, Turf Paradise’s request for a race meet in 2024. The track announced that it will host a 57-day live meet, running from January 29 through May 4.

“I decided to postpone my retirement because of the many stake holders here in Arizona that want racing to continue,” said track owner Jerry Simms.

A signed contract between Turf and the Arizona Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (AzHBPA), listed a 4-day a week live schedule, Monday through Thursday. Horses will be allowed into the stable area December 18 with training beginning December 26.
