well so much for NewGuy & the others and their nonsense

they have been saying the races are closing 5 mins early  Laugh  Wink

but if it was Race 9 ... then I had shut down my betting for the day by then

but equibase list the off time

on their records R9 was off at 5.32

(UK timeframe, US timeframe and Oz timeframe hours for me are all around the clock face ... but the minutes reference is always the same)

here is the link if you wish to verify Toffeeman ... but if it wasn't R9 then check the other race results and let us know

https://www.equibase.com/premium/chartEmb.cfm?track=SAR&raceDate=09/02/15&cy=USA&rn=9

WOW so one race may or may not have been suspended late for every 1,000 that are suspended early?

Stop the presses!

I like plenty of others are losing interest.

At almost any other point in time-I would know exactly what the OP is talking about.

But if keep suspending races absurdly early, I like others find something else to occupy our time.

of course there is an issue NewGuy .. its been happening for 3 months

however .. as a punter .. I cannot allow my operation to just stall or stop as it appears to do to the traders

you guys are stuck I accept that .. because to you .. a race is a race is a race .. and every race therefore is important to you and needs to be operating as per your own schedule .. which I guess means trying to scalp the seeders who are bludgeoning the punters who the traders can no longer scalp themselves

there is the dilemma ..

but the punters are getting set (I know because I am one of them) at an earlier timeframe than 'right at the off'

why the traders don't jump in early and make a position at the absolute extreme end of back/lay possibility ... where NO ONE will actually take your trades but the seeders bot's might be tempted to edge the prices out/in out towards your offers

that is your only hope as a trader short of packing up shop

the punters .. and the seeders will just scramble to get what they can out of the offerings still on display

I myself don't play every race .. and never did

I have 8 - 9 race cards each day .. I examine and look for races where I might have an edge odds/value wise .. and I play maybe 50% of the ones I would really like to be in (which is about 20% of all the races examined)

such is the life of a punter trying to extract some value

the older trader is now waiting till "close to the jump" hoping some big late money will come in and at the same time the odds for back/lay will be tight enough to skim as a buy/sell

so no one is getting the greatest deal ..

but the punters & seeders are still playing .. with the punters just chosing which races amongst every race on offer they will play in ..

and the seeders cannot know in advance which races they will be betting in ..

and the traders are just sitting on the hands and not pushing any buttons in the vain hope .. that at some future point .. much action will again take place ... right around the off time

but the markets are closed before that happens

its a battle I know .. but either adjust to the current tricky climate .. or find something else to do I guess ... as you suggested

all the best NewGuy

Woodbine R3 2,000 matched. Fav straddle at the off 4.1 -7.4.

I guess not enough people are adapting.

Same race 4 months ago=5,000 matched.

Same race 4 years ago=25,000 matched.

There is no adjusting to; so many people are losing interest or have lost interest that there isn't even a market anymore.

time for traders to move on then newguy

mate I don't know how many times I can explain this to you

Woodbine R3 was a maiden race ... with just the 6 runners

the CLOSEST one if the horses had run in their LAST RACE was ...   ten and three quarter lengths from the winner

another runner was having its first ever start

WHY ANY PUNTER would be interested in such a poor betting race is what surprises me .. that it held 2k shows that seeders & some traders are putting up sheckels

traders think each race is aviable race ... ie a race is a race is a race

but to a punter that is not the case

last at Monmouth 36k .. betting to the off ...  WERE YOU TRADING IN THAT RACE ?

if not .. you were looking at silly non bettable race .. and packing up your trading shop just when a sensible betting race came along

I can't teach you these things .. but you must at some point .. if betting in horse races .. actually look at the type of horses that are running

Excited

Unless it is your job to respond to me,

why the need to tell me anything?

It is 99.9% pure unadulterated rubbish anyway.

In my world, it reads like an uniformed professional shill.

Why bump threads from 5years ago as if it is busy here suddenly?

Who are you trying to fool exactly?
Report Thebas September 5, 2015 2:57 AM BST
dill

I didn't bump the thread

just responding to your continual moaning nonsense that doesn't make sense

why state a 6 horse maiden race where they majority hadn't finished within TEN LENGTHS of the winner last start as some sort of proof that people cant get a bet on

ridiculous

if you cant get a bet on .. you aren't trying

if you cant  T R A D E .. move on

Thebas serves no purpose but to promote betfair. Its obvious. Hence the supporting of the current early suspension BS>
Report Thebas September 5, 2015 10:55 PM BST
you have the same mental issue as NewGuy

promote BF ... you are a nutter mate

I don't promote BF ..     I BET ON BF Laugh

you on the other hand .. don't bet .. you trade

traders days are gone mate

your $20 bot that buys at $2.26 and sells at $2.25 is history

the seeders have worked you out .. they are closing the race before your bot makes it move

same as I said to the liar NewGuy (I did not bump a 5 year old thread as he said ffs ... he cant even read a date on a thread so how could he possibly bet correctly - just another trader)

good luck with it razor .. punters are out there snapping up the good odds (10/1) in the 2-5 min mark before off

I have explained how to do this .. you cannot register it in your brain ...

but good fortunes to you anyway

(promoting BF  ffs Laugh)

Nah....dont want to sound like VB but got too shadowy.....to see the horses "lines"

But re seeders etc.....and I am not that au faix with the the complexities but would expect that cross matching now helps set the market....in lieu of seeders

Not the correct words...ConfusedConfused--initiate the market perhaps
Report Thebas September 6, 2015 12:43 AM BST
cross matching takes place afterwards henry

the seeders set the market

used to be the traders had a hand in it

like newGuy & Razor

they have been washed out for about 3 months now

I agree with their observation .. I don't agree with how to play it

a punter adapts

the 2 traders mentioned to me are like a couple of rich kids who got an inheritance from mum & dad

but don't know how to exist in the world once their inheritance stopped Laugh

I cant help them any longer .. they must adapt or die .. and they know it .. one of them will choose death I reckon (metaphor) rather than play the hands that are currently dealt

punters wont get involved in certain races .. why would they ..

traders think a race is a race is a race .. and that dumb money will just be floating there for them to skim up (at $0.01 cents in the dollar)

.. but as they used to say in the jungle .. let the tiger roar and flush out its prey

(don't know they ever said that .. but hey Wink)

I don't promote BF ..     I BET ON BF

I am very happy to promote Betfair..Love

Not a trader but think it must be especially great for the traders....technical information by graphs..no transaction fees just a small 6% commission on profits (Wink)

Not all races are trade-able but given the huge number that are it is simply patience...

they cant trade on the USA anymore Henry .. read their posts

their observations are correct

but their hard wired bots that do a lot of work (I imagine) close to the jump trying to mix & match are shut down with the erratic and sometimes early market closures

must be frustrating for them

I have explained that a window is now open in the 2 to 5 min mark before the off

odds are available during that time

if a trader needs to have a thousand pound on each runner just to make the trading worthwhile .. then the USA market wont support that ... in greater than 70% of races anymore

as the massive traders moved on (prob the 60% PC got them in the end) the small fish traders are left with no liquidity

and the thought of opening a form guide is anathema to them  Laugh

but life goes on .. with or without them  Plain

Not really Thebas its more like you put water into a tree that grows. But the water needs to be put into the tree right before dark. Of course this is fictional. But it doesent grow unless it is done that way, and has been done that way since existence. Having to water the tree well before dark doesent induce the same results. It might give you a small burst of growth every now and than, but there is no consistency in its growth and its dies again. You cannot grow the tree that way unless you are the seeder in the case of Betfair. Just like you cannot win betting early. Unless you are a seeder or have inside money(trainers or som). Or you are very "smart"... I know your 2-5 mins stuff does not work. No chance to win in the long run, hence the tree comparison. So I wont take it seriously because I know it wont matter, I might bet a little money now and than but slowly fade out. Not to mention BF feels no need to tell there loyal customers about the change. It shows a lack of any care about there customers which is why I suggest people complain and stop. Not because of early suspension, people can do as they please. And whether others do it or not I don't care, but im on for a intended reason. I know plenty of bettors who do what you say to do but they cannot render consistent profits and only lose. I don't care what others do, if betfair closes races erratically and usually very early I cannot win, I guess im very stupid. So its not that im a baby or a quitter I just don't care to be part of a losing game. What would happen if the stock market was closed 5 minutes before 4pm or 16:00 for example. Like I said BF is arrogant and does not feel the need to make this public and let the world know there dramatic choices. But they take commission and actually have premium charges.
Report Thebas September 6, 2015 9:03 PM BST
all the best with it razor .. it was actually the other guy I thought might leave and take up something different

I do not think you are a baby or anything else derogatory at all

I have stated I have adjusted to what the marketplace is

you mention the stock market ... well try playing the Foreign Exchange market .. when they move pricing over the weekend when a trader cannot adjust his position Wink

the 2-5 min mark is where the punter plays ... NOW .. it has to be ... for the situation we are in

the seeder bots creep in & out .. and that is the opportunity area for a PUNTER

sometimes you miss the good price .. sometimes you get the best price

but the price a punter takes is ALWAYS higher than the assessed price they have in their own market

if not a punter does NOT bet in that race !!!

(and these are usually the races where liquidity is lower than average and the trader cant get a tight spread and the seeders close off the market either erratically or early)

whether a punter wins on his opinions long term is based on so many variables I wont explore them here naturally Grin
