It promises to be a cracker,  American Pharoah is now evens too complete the triple crown after this magnificent effort in the preakness - https://youtu.be/SxXQASkvBjI

He made every yard unchallenge at any stage, to win by 7 Lenghts on a sloppy surface, after a blistering for distance and conditions opening sectional of 22.90 and reaching 3/4 s at 1m 11 .42  slowing in final quater to win in 1m 58 . 46

Splits  = 22.90 ( 23.59)( 24.93)  (26.32) (20.72)

Well I have my doubts he will stay 12 furlongs but he does so impress with his ability too  travel  so  close and make his own pace, from this angle you can only be staggered he has not already beat himself even over 9.5 furlongs, and did show battling quality in the kentucky derby from an  horrid draw for one with such pace ,    he needs too be ridden in this way,  he breaks the heart of many trying too keep paces, that said,  you can only beat what turns up,  and thus far the opposistion appears weak, but over 12 furlong the  forces of  nature(himself) may well defeat this brilliant 10f horse?.

To early to make a judgement but the preakness run was impressive.

Yes a nightmare too handicap, some large distances between runners and an uncontested lead, with many just not being suited too the conditions, I have decided on rating American Pharoah 132 this may seem high too many.

I am laying American Pharoah all day for this.

Great horse, don't get me wrong, but they just cannot do it.

Materiality will put the pace to the race either uncontested or with the Pharoah at his quarter.

The flow of the race sets up nicely for Frosted in my opinion and at 5/1 in places, this to me is a maximum win/place wager.

Hope that Pharoah comes out of the race kindly for a 'fall' campaign leading to the Classic.

I ave nothing against Pharoah just personally think that the work load is way too much and we will be waiting many, many years for a triple crown champ.

Let's hope they all come back safe -preferably behind Frosted :)

Such an interesting race, I was comparing last years Kentucky Derby with this years,the make up and pace and draw angles completely different, I could only conclude that the  Americans Pharoah Derby was far superior, considering draw and early pace many showed from wide draws and far superior earlier sectionals, just take a look.

California Chrome 23.04 / 47.37/ 71.80/ 97.45/ 123.06
American Pharoah 23.24/ 47.34/ 71.29/ 96.45/ 123.02

Chrome Split Times:
(24:33)  (24:43)   (25:65)     (26:21)

Pharoah Split Times:
(24:10)  (23:95)   (25:16)     (26:57)

Chrome had more energy in reserve (much more) to bound 5l clear then fade, when you consider the Pharoah had used so much energy at all three opening splits , it is mind boggling he won.Some horse this,I still think we have a crack miler(for the world too see), but speed figures suggest he went even quicker in the early Preakness sections and still slowed and won easy(ffs) head scratching job, but able too dominate in the testing slop(which he must like). The question remains how good is the opposition at Belmont?, I agree with Shiek me Hands comments about Frosted, he looks worthy, I like Keen Ice for value, dropped out pulled ,did it all wrong really, but I  must say I can question what he did achieve which was little?, that said Keen Ice will be suited by the extra distance and further still and would be my place selection with Frosted.(can they catch this monster?) They perhaps have more too prove.

If not now, when? If not him, who? His win in the Preakness makes me think that the Pharoah will do it. Even-money available, I'm on.

hope he does win but i dont think he will stay,especially if he repeats his last run because i worked out that the first two furlongs were ran at 19.21 yards per second and got slower and slower 18.65  17.64  16.71 and final one and a half furlong 15.92 . i was surprised that nothing came from behind to challenge him in the straight.the one i have ended on backing is madefromlucky winner of the peter pan who ran similar fractions to tonalist who won the same race last year before winning the belmont.

The thing that makes American Pharoah probably in a better position than most of them in the past 30 years is the fact that he’s had two easy races [Rebel and Arkansas Derby], one tough one [Kentucky Derby] and then another easy one [Preakness].
So he’s got that going for him.”

I'm assuming that since BF has a market in place for the Belmont, it should be visible free of charge through BF Video?
Report sidthekid June 6, 2015 6:30 PM BST
BF Should stream it, otherwise;

What a performance.  Great to view it.  A piece of modern day history for a lot of people not around when the Triple Crown was won previous.  Top training performance by Baffert to get the horse right

American Pharoah winning the Belmont and Triple Crown video - https://youtu.be/ctss9h26IqY

Fantastic stuff yesterday, what a great day for horse racing, a well deserved rest for while now for American Pharoah, he is now the proven champion of American racing. It is easy too crab the field behind in the Belmont, but I shall leave that subject, he proved himself in the Derby and nothing could lead him on that Derby form if he chose not too let them, he did not beat himself at the trip, he had the easy lead that many expected. This was still a major achievement for any horse, the stats and history dictate the fact. Lets hope one day that a clash with the Europeans becomes the normal and we have a true world championship event.(BRING IT ON,  MAKE IT HAPPEN)
Report racingguru June 9, 2015 1:46 AM BST
Fair play to AP - he beat what was put in front of him BUT seriously what was that race all about??

A dubious stayer allowed an easy easy lead, not pressured in the slightest setting slow fractions and quickening up easily playing to his strengths of speed. It was like the whole field had decided it was about time they had a Triple Crown winner and played follow the leader. Not pocket talking as don't bet the flat. Just be really surprised if this horse is that much of a superstar as everyone makes out especially over 1m4f. Time said race was average.

Hi  racingguru, non had the natural ability to match strides with the Pharoah,predetermined before the race, they were running for best possible placings, good prizemoney for placed horses, the Pharoah would be a champion over a mile in the UK, massive pace and ability too settle on or just off it. We can and should question the horses he did beat, but then again a bit like Frankel,  who can lay up with him over the mile if he chooses too dominate?
Report sidthekid June 13, 2015 3:53 PM BST
American Pharoah ran the race in 2:26.65 which was the sixth-fastest of all time.
Report metro john August 4, 2015 3:25 PM BST
American Pharoah now rated 136 by Timeform, A monster he most definitely is.
