Hi there, you lot seem like a crowd who bet on the US racing in the early hours
i wonder if you could help me understand what happened on the betting on the 00:29 (Race 7) at Penn National in the early hours of Wednesday morning. My PC clock is deadly accurate on all other races, yet on this race the betting was wiped clean (as if betting had been suspended) at 00:27 – 2 minutes before the scheduled off – and the screen (for all runners) refused to take any bets ... yet it was a another full 2 minutes before the race was actually suspended. Needless to say i had laid the winner (isn’t it always the way !!) and was planning to back it at higher odds but was unable to do so because the boards had been wiped down. Is this a regular occurrence on the nightime racing from the US and something i need to be wary of in the future ? Thanks for your time |

always - it might be a good thing for us that the US racing is finished. At least we have made a good profit. U done well tonite.
Good luck and keep safe |

Mahoney, the us off times are only a guide, more often they run late, but 1 or 2 tracks run early
By:
Mahoney, if you are watching pics on betfair, they are about 90 seconds behind real time

Mahoney - this use to happen a lot a couple of years back. It's not as regular as it use to be. It still happens but very rarely. We use to say on here when it did happen "Who let the tea boy take the controls". From my experience when it did happen it use to be mostly be on a Friday nite

Cheers for that "Always Dreaming" .... er exactly how much earlier than the advertised off can they go ? If that's the case i don't think i'll be laying anything else on those races if it's going to randomly start the race at an arbitary point any time before the off as i have no guarantee that i'd have time to balance anything up.
Oh well ... 2 days profits wiped out - but i suppose it could have been worse. Thanks for the info. |

if you log on to espn/horse racing, you will get real time live pics for most of the live tracks on here. you only get 30 minutes, then you have to switch off the pics, delete your cookies, and you will get another 30 minutes

PS ... no, i wasn't watching the pics - i use Bet Angel so have a countdown timer automatically set for the off times on each race. I noticed that every other race this evening went off between 10 seconds after the advertised "off" up to 3 minutes after the supposed "off time" .... i work on the basis of getting out the market at least 1 minute before the advertised off just to be extremely sure that instances like this don't happen .... then suddenly this race went off over 2 minutes early.
Sod's law that Braulio won after i'd laid it to the world and his brother ... oh well - it's a lesson learned the hard way. |
