Considering BF supposedly owns TVG, you would think........

frankie, we're rubbish at deleting non runners in the US for a number of reasons not all of which can be placed at the door of Betfair or TVG.

I work for Betfair and am currently based in LA, the home of TVG. Frustratingly, the US industry has no standardised system - unlike the UK - for communicating scratches. Betfair and TVG depend on accurate information from the tracks and, right now, they don't seem to think it is a priority to communicate to customers what is and isn't running.

We could certainly do better on our side but would appreciate a bit of help from the industry too.

Oh really, I get it now, it's not YOUR fault, it's SOMEONE ELSE'S fault because they neglect to communicate with you !?!?!?

I guess BF or TVG don't have anyone working for them with enough brains to figure the US "standardized system" out. Trainers are obligated to communicate withdrawn runners and equipment changes to the race office by no later 10am of the morning of the day the runner is scheduled to run. Some race tracks that struggle to fill fields may arbitrarily stretch that deadline to later in the morning. The race office then passes the list of the day's withdrawals to the clubhouse head judge who in turn passes them on to the track announcer's booth to be announced to the public. Late withdrawals usually due to sickness or lameness or "off turf" due to weather conditions are announced as the card progresses.

The brain trust at BF haven't figured out yet that these withdrawn runners that are announced around noon everyday stay in their markets for hours, sometimes virtually until a few minutes to post.
The brain trust at BF still haven't figured out that this information is readily available to anyone at noon, long before the first race goes to the gate, with a simple phone call to the track race office, or if you are really lazy with a visit to the track's web site. (Hint to BF: you have to click on "today's changes"). The brain trust at BF still haven't figured out that someone needs to pay attention to any late changes announced which need to be removed from the market immediately. The brain trust at BF still haven't figured out that in the US the "standardized system" is to go find out, not have this information fall in your lap.

But I suppose BF has gotten used to our money falling in it's lap, why not everything else too.

And judging by the look of things, less lap money every day.

Impossible to understand how horses that have been announced as scratched on more than one website are still in the betfair market at post time.

This is going to look bad when tvg has horses down as scratched and they are still in the betfair market for ages.

smithy#1 - That does make sense. When they remove non runners all the liquidity on the lay side is removed, and generally very little is matched before the race starts at a time when the market is usually at it's most active state. I presume it is intentional.

15/20 minutes is loads of time. 99% of matches happen in the 10 minutes to the off.

Now that betfair have USA tote betting available, maybe one of their programmers could write a programme that scans the tote win markets, compares it to the betfair market, and flags up any scratched horses that are still in the betfair market. The USA tote manage to take them out very quickly.
