Gold explorer, turning into a Gold producer... with proven deposits in mines in Tanzania.

Trading at 17p

Oh.... Crispin Odey of Odey Asset Management took up a 7.2% stake last week, and a little company called Blackrock upped their holding to over 5% last week.

Interesting times ahead.

Define "interesting". Grin

I don't know two things about this company to be honest but your post intrigued me so I looked them up.

Negative operating profit and EPS numbers as far as the eye can see. Are you not concerned about that? And that "little company" owning about $6 million when they manage $3.7 trillion is probably not even a rounding error for them. Unless you meant it as a very short play but then again you'll have to fight technical resistance at both the MA1 and MA2 levels.

It hit 40p last March, it got some momentum going again in early fall and then went in a free fall to end at 18p where it is today, when the commodity itself is now higher than what it was in March.

You better start asking yourself the question.....why?

Men - A little more research, and a little more care into understanding a situation before goading in would certainly pay dividends.

There have been 2 placements in the past 6 months.

One at 20p  circa May time

and a placement at 17p circa 6 weeks ago

Thank you.

Re: Blackrock

Regardless of how much they have under management, they carefully do their due dillgence before spending even a penny, which is why they are where they are.

They took up placements at both 20p & 17p.

They are certainly not gamblers.

Report Barzalona November 25, 2012 2:29 PM GMT
You are trying to act clever, but you are just a very clearly obtuse loon.

Who do you think you are conning by saying "MA1" MA2"?

Why not be a little more expansive on these moving average levels instead of just typing bland rhetoric in the vein hope of impressing?

your ma1/ma2 could be anything, you can adjust a moving average to suit accordingly...

but anyway, as i suggested earlier... technicals on a small cap? Laugh

good luck with that.
Report Menelaus November 25, 2012 3:46 PM GMT
Okay, I'll play along.

Were you recommending a buy? Why the feck then hide behind "interesting times ahead" which can be interpreted any number of ways. Do you have a target price in mind? Do you know when those who buy now should take profits, or stop losses? You seemed to have overlooked all this minor details in your post, or may be in the world you invest in they don't matter.

So basically you're investment decision is based on the fact that BlackRock has a 5pc stake? Because aside from that and "the proven deposits in Tanzania" I see squat all of analysis in your post?

Are you aware of the number of small caps that BlackRock has a 5pc piece of? And if this is such a great opportunity why would a behemoth managing $3.7 trillion in the markets not up it's stake substantially since what they have into them already is no more than a nice tip for a waiter on their balance sheet?

And yes, technicals on anything if you are trading because that's what the machines see, and that's were all your liquidity is coming from at the moment.

You can continue to look for the proverbial needle in the hey stack with small gold miners, and who knows one day you may even get lucky. They are getting hammered in the markets because the fundamentals are poor, that's why they are getting hammered. But simpletons continue to look at the price of gold going up while their investment portfolio in these miners is wilting, and the consul themselves by convincing themselves they need to be..... "patient". What a joke.

I work in M&A. Do you know for how many deals I was be able to raise money for involving small gold miners? NONE, as in ZERO. Because unless the deal is self  financing it just won't get done. The chaps that in the shadow banking system that I talk to, and who I'm trying to convince to put their gambling money on the line, know what I know. The fundamentals suck.

Here's a little nugget for you. These miners face extreme pressure from  environmentalists, unstable political forces in the third world sewer holes the "proven" deposits are located in, the ever present danger of nationalization, 10-year development cycles, escalating energy costs, massive capital expenditures, loss of sentiment since the predictable market thrashing they took in 2008 contrary to what mugs like you were expecting, and gawdawful mining accidents that can bankrupt you overnight. And for what? So that they can add 1-2pc to the world stockpiles every year? Get a clue FFS.

If those are "good fundamentals", then knock yourself out. I think myself, and every hedge fund manager I know, will take a pass.
Report Menelaus November 25, 2012 4:15 PM GMT
Here, stick your face in this........or, the alternative is to keep telling yourself the market is getting it wrong and all you have to do is be.......patient. Laugh

For the record, I purchased on the last placement at 17p, and my target price is north of 40p.  I would not be a holder if this went below 13/14p.

So now, we can wait and see what happens.

You talk a lot but you say nothing, happens quite a bit on here it seems. You tell us WHAT you bought and some ARBITRARY targets but beyond stating some amateur generalities like "BlackRock" owns a percent and "proven deposits in Tanzania", you still haven't posted sh1t WHY you think we should all jump in.

The Hendry thing is only a few months old and quite frankly I don't see that anything that's changed since. Besides, all the meat was in my post, the Hendry piece was to just reinforce the point. Besides, while you watch this stuff on video, someone of us live it in the flesh. He cost me a bottle of Krug at 390 quid and a few dozen Lock Ryan natives No1s at 3.50 quid each over at HIX's (just a short 10 minute walk from here) to at the end, after my pitch, look me in the eye and say...."Have you lost your fecking mind?"

The noise is only the confusion in your head.

You can believe what you want to believe, stupidity is anyone's prerogative.

However, next time you post sharing your infinite wisdom about a trade, try and tell posters WHY they should join in, beyond stating some childish observations that are widely available to everyone with basic googling skills. Some cash flow analysis would be nice. Because without that, even if it turns out you were on the right side of the trade, they can't distinguish whether you got sh1t lucky or you really know your stuff.

Good luck.

P.S. No, that is not a regular Hendry outburst, I have no idea where you got that from, but it was an expected outburst when I was trying to get him to support a small miner acquisition with his money. We enjoyed the oysters and the Krug nevertheless.

I see, so the backtracking has started.

It would have been easier if you just came out and pooh pooed the investment case, but you are setting up get out clauses now.

What do you think about a placement price of 17p, men?

and what would you think about the "protective" nature of such an institutional placement price?

I note your absence in discussing old Crispin?  Surely you must have shared a vintage burgundy on the Riviera in your time as a M&A big dog?

Also, may I ask how busy has your M&A activity been recently?  Maybe this could explain the source of your anger and general hatred of people?

You may think yourself to be quite the clever dick, but upon inspecting recent spars with your mate Frog it appears you are quite the little weasel, and a little weasel who was made to love very foolish and sheepish in recent times.

You still can't explain WHY other should follow beyond the amateur stuff you put up, and you get upset when someone asks. So you throw smoke bombs to hide your ignorance, and you start calling names to divert attention.

It also sounds like your knowledge of the M&A sector is about as good as your knowledge of fundamentals of investing in small miners. Actually, since you brought it up, activity in M&A has never been better, thank you Mr Bernanke. When every corporate can borrow money this dirt cheap at levels never seen before, some cheaper than the US government can (IBM sold short duration paper for 0.17pc !!!), they'd be silly not to. And they do. Where do you think this money is going. There's never been a better time to acquire other assets in the market.

If busting the balls of clueless mugs like you who post brainless rubbish on here makes me a dick, then you're probably right, I'm a dick.

DJ Shanta Gold Produces 5,748 Ounces in Fourth Quarter

LONDON--Shanta Gold Ltd. (SHG.LN), an East Africa-focused gold miner, Monday said that gold production totaled 5,748 ounces in the fourth quarter of 2012 with a further 1,917ounces of gold absorbed on carbon which has since been converted to dore bars.

MAIN FACTS:

- A tertiary crusher was successfully installed in early January, which has increased the throughput capacity to levels required for the 2013 production target of over 70,000 ounces.

-The original two-stage crushing circuit was upgraded to a three-stage crushing circuit in early January and has operated well with 870 ton per day having been crushed in the early commissioning period compared to an average of 390 ton per day in the last quarter.

-Work on the revised medium term New Luika mine plan, incorporating the higher grade Bauhinia Creek resource, is continuing and is expected to be published in the second quarter of 2013 following completion of additional in-pit geotechnical drilling .
