I don't know ben, melly has had plenty of "hits" over the years.

Menelaus, and Menelaus alone, is the culprit here.
He's the problem child, the bully in the sandpit.
Mr Ben et all are simply reacting in trying to defend themselves from daily tirades of personal insults and abuse.
Now this is all quite unfortunate for all us other readers on here, I agree.
Menelaus is clearly a trained economist and, as such, should be listened to if only to ignore what he says.
Whilst Keynes was a renowned, successful investor, I do believe he was the exception rather than the rule in the general body of " theoretical economists ".
They are usually exceptionally good at extracting and analysing what has happened in markets, but exceptionally bad at anticipating or forecasting what is going to happen in markets.
Menelaus is no exception to this, a fact he unfortunately does not seem to be able or willing to admit accepting on here at least.
Now I think there is probably some sort of compensating factor at work here.
On here he has found a relatively " soft" body of persons to have " economic theory" debates with, and he is trying to take extreme advantage of this.
In his other world outside of this forum where he is forced to debate with others of like qualifications and theoretical knowledge, I suspect he loses more debates than he wins.

The biggest surprise to me is that people don't expect things like all of this. The financial world is full of the most egocentric, corrupt, money grabbing bunch of bores on the planet nevermind on keyboard warror mode. This forum is worth a scan but less than 5% of its information is worth absorbing.

No one asked you to "absorb" anything mate. If you're hanging about to "absorb", you're hanging about this forum for all the wrong reasons. On the other hand, life is a give a take thing, so if you feeling you are "absorbing" less than 5% it's probably because you are also contributing less than 5%. Btw folks I think that an alternative, more simplistic, interpretation of Menelaus' frantic " noise " on here, is that it would seem that he has invested in a portfolio that is extremely heavily weighted to the financial armageddon or doomsday forecasted view of unfoding events.
And as such as time goes on and the markets stubbornly refuse to conform to his heavily committed view of things, he starts to suffer panic attacks and comes out swinging widly and indiscriminately at all things he perceives to be against him personally.
He's wrong of course and nobody is deliberately persecuting him, but his deluded sense of self-importance is too great an obstacle for him to rationally understand that.
We should all just hope, if not expect, that in time he will return to more normal modes of socially acceptable behaviour.

I'm out of the mkt. pretty much totally these days.
Sitting on the sidelines earning poor cash returns and none too happy about it all.
Holding onto numerous property investments ( unleveraged ) and looking to increase such selectively.

But based on my life experience that pretty much always that those who shout the loudest that they know it all, almost always fall the furtherest, I must say that wish I had the balls to take a contrary stance to all of Menelaus' gloom and doom forecasts.
