......or just a playground for the mortally wounded, the down under inbreds and their b1tch?

I asked a simple question:

If gold typically moves inverse to the US$, and the US Dollar index is a measure of the relative strength of the UD$ against a basket of other currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, CHF and SEK), then why has gold gone from  $380 in 1990 to $1600+ today when the US Dollar had the same relative strength in 1990 as it does today?

It's a simple question yet no one so far, not the super traders, the super investors, the super intellectuals, not even the chap on his knees has been able to answer it.

It's not just basic Econ 101 FFS, it's "pre-kindergarten-econ 000", yet no one posting on a finacials forum can come up with an answer. Just stop and wrap your head around that for a minute.

I'm not holding my breath.

Many of us know the answer to this basis basic question.

No one will post it because YOU, spartan boy are such a low life turd that no matter what anyone posts you will tell them their wrong and then launch into how cretinish they are.

Once that concludes you will give some far off obscure ambiguous answer and claim you are intellectually superior.

We've heard it all before and we are bored with it.Surprised

Very interesting indeed......

When you say, "friends of gold" do you realise that gold is an inaminate object and therefore you can't really be friends with it? No matter how much you really really want to. I know you don't have any real friends but couldn't you at least buy a dog or trap one of the rats in your bedsit, call it Norman and invite him round for tea to see your Abba collection, platform shoes and pile of shiny metal?

And no your blow up doll Lucious Lips Lindy doesn't count either. She is plastic.

How does it feel?

How does it feel to show up on a forum you hardly ever posted on, ask a question, decide to prove what a smart guy you are, get schooled like a five-year old child and are hooked posting drivel numerous times every single day?

How does it feel that you're not as smart as you thought you were?

It seems to irk you somewhat that people are laughing with me and at you even though hardly anybody here knows me. Have people always found you so repulsive? Go on let it all out. You'll feel better after a good sob. LaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

It is a rule of human nature that nobody is as smart as they think they are but few take themselves quite so seriously as you do so for now I'm having fun priicking your balloon. Don't worry I'll be off when I've done with you. I'd leave the counselling until then if I were you.

By the way as you are the first poster I have ever known to leave your own forum to check me out I have to confess I'm not sure whether to be flattered or disturbed. I certainly wouldn't have felt the need to bestow that honour on you. However, given the fact that you seem to alienate everybody and pollute any discussion you take part in I think I will go with the latter option.

Do people always take an instant dislike to you because it saves them time?

Chin up son. You've got more to come. Take it like a man.

Report Muqbil June 18, 2012 10:51 AM BST
Melly seems to have a fair point here. He asked a question, no answers are forthcoming, only a lot of hot air. I don't know the answer to the question but would appreciate being enlightened by someone who does? I am a believer in gold, simply because it is a tangible asset that has stood the test of time unlike the paper stuff helicopter Ben likes spreading around like confetti.
Report Eeternaloptimist June 18, 2012 11:25 AM BST
As an outsider I agree that he may have a point which deserves scrutiny. The problem seems to be that he is such an obnoxious myopic oaf that he so alienates people that they disengage from debating with him and resort to ridicule to show his complete lack of humour or humility.
Report Menelaus June 18, 2012 5:42 PM BST
Yes, you are an "outsider" indeed. After what seems to be approaching 100 posts from you since your recently first appeared on here, you contributed nothing to a place you now seem very fond of posting called "Tradefair & Financials" forum. Anyone who can fog a mirror can easily conclude that finance/economics expertise is not your strength. Which begs the question......why are you hanging about on a financials forum, posting rant after rant, if not something invisible has control over your actions. Spend some time familiarizing yourself with Pavlov's experiments, it may change how you view the world.

I asked the question intentionally with complete confidence that NONE of the numbskulls who pollute this forum every day would know the answer. In fact, I was convinced that even some other posters who have intelligently commented on gold in the past on here probably wouldn't know the answer either. The question was intended to mock the halfwits on here who fancy themselves traders although they still don't know the most basic thing in economics - how money gets created, and they certainly don't understand gold pricing dynamics. It was also posted to provoke thought by other posters. You were somewhere in between.

They don't debate me because they had their a$$es handed to them every time they decided to take me on in the past. Consider it a character flaw of mine but I just can't hold my nose and tip toe around the sh1t benny the clown and friends are posting everyday without calling it out exactly for what it is......sh1t.

I like your colorful prose and graceful syntax but unfortunately you will have to do a LOT better than that to impress me......and get off the hook. Quoting Bertrand Russell instead of Einstein might be a good start.

Report Lix June 18, 2012 11:41 PM BST
Its a sh1t question. Gold has gone up because demand has outpaced supply. what more is there? The dollar aint gonna go up at the same pace when they are printing off billions more every day. ConfusedConfusedConfused

I find it odd and disturbing but that comment puts me in mind of the crazy in Silence Of The Lambs who whipped his chopper between his legs whilst pouting and looking into the mirror and asking of his reflection, "do you wanna fucck me?".

If you think you're "off the hook", then leave and go back to politics instead of chasing my shadow on here, no one is forcing you to stay. Declare victory and move on, simple that.

I know you can't.

P.S. I'm lowering my standard so much, a post from you that includes simple arithmetic would be sufficient at this point to impress me. None is forthcoming however.......

Lix, I have no idea who you are mate but arguing that gold responds to demand/supply fundamentals ESPECIALLY IN THE CONTEXT of the question asked is......well, how shall I say without offending you.....asinine.

benny the clown, what you posted wasn't a turd this time, it was a manure pile dropped by a team of Clydesdales........and about as foul in odor. I wish I could say I was surprised....

Many well credentialled debaters have come on here and have put Menelaus well in place( eg Johnnie Walker and Subversive to name but two), but alas they also eventually give up trying to get him to engage in reasonable and polite discussion.
Hence we have the situation today, where nobody either cares or is willing to respond in any meaningful way to anything he posts.
More's the pity for everybody in fact.

I'm not familiar with the former but know subversion well from the politics forum and agree with most of his views. It doesn't surprise me that he has taken melly apart. He is clinical and forensic whereas melly is bombastic and egotistical. In fact you would have surprised me if you had said that he had done well against subversion.

It seems you hit the nail on the head though. Nobody is going to engage with him. My first post to him was to get him to flesh out his position which broadly accorded with my own but I was interested in listening to how someone else rationalised it. Instead of explaining his position he started giving me needless stick. At which point I had to take it off him and break it over his head.

I thibk he is still coming round and is seeing things like anglers with hooks and lines.
