Muqbil, this mug is asking the wrong questions, gives the wrong answers and he has raised the art of aftertiming to a whole new different level. Why the feck bother mate?

mrben, gold would seem to one of the worst places for trading recently, especially during earnings season, whatever floats your boat though.

Have to disagee there polybot. 12 trades this week for 11 wins and one loss. In fact I closed the loser about 10 mins ago.
So many opps in gold, it trends beautifully.Range today is only 8$ but many days circa 20$. ![]() |

mostly stretching to get 1 percent but i suppose it being stuck in a range is an advantage too. good luck with it.

mrben, gold would seem to one of the worst places for trading recently, The clown is financially illiterate and not a trader, he makes it up as he goes along. If you haven't clued in by now after all the drivel, lies and trades that earn a profit of "10 years wages" he can't explain posts one here, then your even dumber than I thought. Mrben 20 Apr 12 11:09 Have to disagee there polybot. 12 trades this week for 11 wins and one loss. In fact I closed the loser about 10 mins ago. If they gave away Nobel prizes for aftertiming *THIS* would be the winning entry. |

Great day if you're trading gold today, it moved a total of..........ZERO. In the meantime, the fanboys are continuing to puke blood.
|
|
By:
It's a tight range for sure, would need to be trading some hefty units to make it worthwhile...
|
|
By:
My bad, perhaps that's what I was missing. If anyone is trading with a $25 million account like benny the clown, if you time the 0.001pc up and down moves perfectly, then it's possible you could make enough for a latte and a chocolate chip cookie at Starbucks. May be........

melly , melly, melly
your knowledge of trading techniques would'nt fill the eye of a needle.![]() If you can't see the opportunity of trading volatility and a closing price representing a ZERO price change for the day, there is no hope for you.Your trading ignorance is epic as you have demonstrated over and over again here.It is soooooooooooo boorish to read your comments these days. Despite your obvious addiction to this forum you have learn't nothing over the years. Muqbil- just a question- do you do any trading? |
|
By:
How many time do you have to reveal yourself an idiot and a fraud until you finally give up?
VOLATILITY is exactly what everyone has been posting is lacking you numbskull. AAPL traded 3 sigma in two days, Italian banks traded 6 sigma in two day and this numbskull thinks the volatility is in gold that has been trading withing a 1pc range forever and a day now. You can't make this stuff up .....oh, wait......YES, YES, he can. |

|
By:
You must be pulling those numbers out of your arse as usual. Doesn't your thumb come in the way?
Here's the real numbers for the entire last week, expressed in how volatility is properly measured...percentages. 0.21/0.06/0.60/0.12/and the last trading day a big fat ZERO VOLATILITY my arse. Waste of friggin time more like it. Why don't you instead of posting on here just put a red flashing light on your forehead that says "I'm an idiot". You wouldn't be wasting our time then. |

Muqbil- just a question- do you do any trading? Not really, I have a few quid in igindex that I have the occasional punt on reccomends from a m8 who is supposed king of TA (his words)! Currently long EURAUD entry @ 1.2768 this am. I don't have enough time atm, but know there is little chance for smalltime Joes. I find the macro economic outlook more interesting tbh.. |

I find it interesting to be in rural areas, analyse the village idiots and put it in a bigger perspective.
There was some swings in gold last week so everything is possible. |

polyahole, if you are going to continue to throw your heels at me, you better get into some higher heels because the one's you're wearing now are not working.

look up "intraday", dimwit.

By:
Ooooh, really, I forgot, of course, intraday, for those ubber-traders who buy every daily low and sell every daily high right down to the second. And what's that range about 1pc?
Stop fondling that iPad and lift your head up once in a while, there's a whole new world out there........and do get some new heels. |

By:
Gold opened last week at $1651 and closed on Friday at $1642 and NEVER had an intraday move outside of an 1pc band.
What were you saying fanboy, something about "dimwit" I recall? I said it before, I'll say it again, you clowns from down under have turned this forum into a circus. ![]() |

And what's that range about 1pc? I'm wondering whether melly is on a wind up or whether he is just completely feckin stupid? One minute he is mocking people who trade large swings by saying that "you can only be successful if you take positions for less than 30 seconds". Now he is saying, yep, you guessed it, that the only way to make money is by trading the large swings, and not the intra day b0llox. ![]() make your mind up you feckin clown ffs. ![]() |

you re both clearly talking about different things. you r like a tennis player who wants to explain the rules of his sport to a badminton player. the fact you both play with a racket doesnt mean you play the same sport.
menelaus is looking at close to close volatility which is been low, mrben is looking at intraday ( or high frequency ) which is been significant ( at 14% altho by historical standards not huge ). bit disappointing, maybe, from menelaus as someone with his culture ( and i mean it ) should know better. from reading the posts ( these and previous ones ) it s obvious that mrben trades with a mean reverting approach, so of course he likes this kind of market. a more volatile market, and a very directional one in fact, it s not his favorite scenario. he s looking for the 0.5% moves all the times, if he was trading the ibex or the italian bank stocks - which have been 3-4 times more volatile - he could have been in much worst shape ( as no point in locking a half pct profit and risk a 5% move agst if the price goes the other way round ). of course this approach is very simplistic ( you trade a market that moves a lot, but in the end goes nowhere ) although it can be refined and optimised to very sophisticated levels ( which asset has the biggest spread between close2close and highfrequency vol; which frequency can be considered high; should you take frequency in time or in pips; should you take an asset or a basket of assets which can display a more sticky behaviour; should you neutralize market risk while trading this strategy woth some overlay, etc ). im pretty sure mrben is not sophisticated enough to make this analysis, but im also pretty sure he recognizes when to play and when not to play a market he s comfortable in. menelaus prefers a longer term approach (whatever he says about the 30 seconds, i cant believe he believes it even himself ), hence his emphasis on the need to know the basics of economics for trading the markets, which is unfortunately not true ( and i say unfortunately as otherwise trading would be too easy ). but his analysis of what s going on has to be a bit more in depth for his trading style than what is required by the ben startegy. in shorts, menelaus trades (or shud trade) 'macro'. for what i know, i read or i care, they re both very successful and almost never wrong. in fact i would say they tend to lose only when they start to trade the other style compared to what suits them. if only they realized they played different sports they would stop to argue almost immediately and finally we would have a free forum for everyone ;-) jw |

Furst of all, try breaking up your usually long posts in paragraphs, and cut down the run on sentences, it would make them a lot more readable. I mean FFS does it really take up so much of your precious time to capitalize the first letter after a period? Seriously !!! Also, if you are to continue to share your wisdom on here, you should post more often. The way you appear out of the shadows now makes you look like a lurker. With that out of the way…….
is looking at intraday ( or high frequency ) which is been significant ( at 14% altho by historical standards not huge ) Bollocks. If you go back and read my posts they all refer to last week. It's your statement, back it with numbers. it s obvious that mrben trades with a mean reverting approach I'll take the "culture" thing as a compliment, but noooo, menelaus thinks benny the clown is a fraud, financially illiterate and about as dump as a bucket of nails. He definitely doesn't trade with something that he doesn't even know what it means. he s looking for the 0.5% moves all the times Enlighten me how the mug can be "looking" for those 0.5pc moves, and move importantly get ahead of them, when by his own admission he doesn't use TA nor does he know how. Does the thumb out of your arse method have that kind of predictive power? of course this approach is very simplistic If by "simplistic" you mean a complete joke, then I'd have to agree. im pretty sure mrben is not sophisticated enough to make this analysis You think??? ![]() ![]() ![]() hence his emphasis on the need to know the basics of economics for trading the markets, which is unfortunately not true Like I said, any fool that throws a few quid in an igindex account becomes by DEFINITION a trader. Whether that leads to ruin or profits is an entirely different matter. for what i know, i read or i care, they re both very successful and almost never wrong Then you're not paying attention. Lot's of times I got short term moves wrong and posted about it, and never have I claimed that I made "10 years wages" in a single trade that I couldn't even explain. But at least I demonstrate every day that I know how money gets created, what the price of oil really is, how central banks work, that inflation, deflation and hyperinflation really is, and on, and on, and on……..I think you get my point. Bottom line. I couldn't give a toss what this halfwit is trading, least of all gold. I doubt he has enough money in his trading account to be able to afford to buy three gold coins, which makes all this talk wasted on this POS a complete waste of time. |

hi there. first, sorry i dont partecipate too often. not a matter of lurking in the dark, just a case of not finding the time every day to log in ( on top im just back from 2weeks holidays, as explained in the "paging jw" thread )
about the historical volatilities, im not making data and although i dont have the numbers with me now (the problem of logging in from home, and not from the office) you can check it very easily when you log in into bloomberg. xauusdh1w ccy go and you get the high frequency vol xauusdh1w cmpn ccy go and you get the close to close ( the one you would find when you check the HVT function, for simplicitys sake ) as any function in bloomberg you can chart it and do a gip20, you would realize that todays value for example at 11.80 is the lowest for a month ( and almost the low for more than a year, we need to go before the us d/grade to see lower intraday gold volatility ) for what concern the other conclusions, anyone can read whatever he wants in any thread, so you re more than welcome to interpret my comments how you want. lastly, sorry for the capital letters, in my next life i ll be more tidy. now, cmon the blues. |
|
By:
I'm not wasting anymore time on that mug. There's so many important subjects we could be discussing/debating on here regarding this ongoing crisis instead of wasting time discussing this clown's aftertimed trades. Unfortunately however he shows up with is daily drivel on the AUD or Gold when he clearly doesn't understand fundamentals and, by his own admission, doesn't use or understand technicals. What is there left? (rhetorical)
Let's just leave it "cmon the blues" before we start disagreeing again. |

![]() JW- interesting post, but I think you give me nowhere near enough credit and melly waayyyyyyyy too much. ![]() Melly is a rank failure and it bewilders me why anyone gives this turkey an ounce of credibility on any level. ![]() ![]() I , on the other hand have a stellar record, including a 700 pip success on the AUD. ![]() No need to go over mellys woeful record but one point of interest. He keeps referring to " he has a $20,000 account , he loses it and refills, then loses it again" etc etc. mmmm Meeee thinks this is probably what happened to melly sometime ago. This would explain his absolute rage at anyone who has any success here.. Melly claims to have a higher education but as pointed out his spelling and sentence construction is less than perfect. His arguments have holes all over them. Not the kind of thing you expect from a harvard man ![]() ![]() ![]() Challenge him and he is outraged. Why?
