You can write what I know about NG on the back of a postage stamp (the main thing being that EVERYBODY cautions against getting involved in trading it).

However, I have been watching the price slowly but surely spiral downwards over the last year hitting lows of around $2.27 (currently around $2.60). These are levels not seen for about 10 years.  (it hit highs a few years ago of over $15).

I was just interested on peoples opinions of future upside / downside from here on.

My limited chart reading skills tell me that since the beginning of the year it looks like a wedge is forming so a breakout could be near.

Excellent thread.

It's odds-on however, that you won't get a single opinion posted on your thread, at least not one that is remotely intelligent.

On the other hand, may be benny the clown will surprise me, take his finger out of his arse, stick it up in the air to check which way the wind is blowing, and comment. I very much doubt it though, he didn't have a clue that WTI is not the price of oil, I doubt he has a clue what is really happening with NG.....so finger still firmly in arse.

Judge Roughneck, it's very simple, no one will post an opinion here about what you asked because no one has a clue. Posters on here can masquerade  as "traders" when all it takes is taking a guess at a certain price movement (I emphasize GUESS) but reveal themselves the clueless mugs they really are when there is any kind of debate that requires knowledge of economics or any kind of analysis. This is the reality of this forum no matter how much the lemmings try to deny it through posting incessant drivel and blowing kisses to each other.

Let me preface this by saying I don't trade NG, there are so many other ways to play this casino called a market now that I just don't bother. Some years ago however, we handled the Duke Energy acquisition of Westcoast Energy which forced me to learn the NG business, and fast. I try to stay in touch with the industry, it's one where opportunities for mergers and acquisitions never seem to end, so with that in mind I think I can offer an opinion that carries a little more weight than a casual observer. Here it goes:

The "benny the clown version":
"Huh, what the feck is NG?"

The "lemmings who only trade without worrying about analysis" version:
"Natural Gas prices will likely drop below $2 this summer, perhaps as low as an unprecedented $1.50 !!!!!"

The "dumbed down" version:
"It's all about supply and demand. The shale gas revolution has resulted in North America being very long in supply. Throw in an economy that is slowing down and an abnormally warm winter, the severe declines in demand are resulting in the current low price. Storage levels which get depleted in the winter and get refilled in the summer are now at a historic high for this time of the year. Fast forward a few months and there will be so much natural gas in the market with virtually nowhere to go as the storage pools will fill up fast. The result will be that price will undoubtedly be driven to a historic low."

The "those with a half an ounce of brain" version:
Complement what I said above with these:

Judge Roughneck, I remember sending a tenner your way not long ago, I believe you owe me that money back now. Cheers. Happy

wasn't it buffett who said "never invest in something you don't understand?"

I suggest you take his advice and quit investing/trading full stop melly, because you clearly don't have even the slightest clue about anything.
Report Menelaus February 26, 2012 2:50 PM GMT
Wipeout, you have consistently displayed on this forum the traits of a coward, a hypocrite and a fool. You should be happy that instead of calling you all that, I only resort to calling you an inexperienced child because of your young age.

What exactly is it that you understand Wipeout? Is it getting lead by the nose to the slaughterhouse by professional traders? Is that what you understand? You remember, like shouting from the top of your lungs  "FTSE to 7000", right at the top of the move that got the market to 6000+ only to be humiliated by watching it dive back down to 5000 almost to the hour you posted that rubbish? Is that what you understand? Or it looking at information published on penny stock websites thinking the market missed it and it's not priced in? Is that it? Because other than that, I haven't seen much of anything else from you here.

By the way, I need to look into this again to confirm but as I remember quoting Warren Buffet doesn't quite earn you a degree in economics at LSE. I'll have to look into it to be sure and let you know, may be the lowered their standards, you never know.

P.S. Stick to trading b*#@ j*s with the forum's village idiot. It's the only thing you do so well on here.
Report Whippet February 26, 2012 5:07 PM GMT
Well you would know, wouldn't you? You are the biggest liar and hypocrite on here.

1) You deride others for bad trades, despite never posting a single trade of your own.

2) You claim to be an expert, yet the only thing you ever post are predictions covering every single possible scenario.

3) You deride others for adopting positions for longer than 30 seconds - yet you regularly take positions for weeks at a time.

4) You deride others for "taking a random walk through a minefield", yet do exactly that yourself, seemingly exiting and entering trades for no reason whatsoever, and certain nothing to do with the reason you placed said trades in the first place (see AAPL).

5) You are incapable of responding to a single post that makes you out to be the complete fool you are. Instead you prefer to resort to ad hominem attacks or simply ignoring people altogether.

PS. Since when does having a degree in economics prove you are an expert on something? last I checked, most of the people responsible for the current mess we are in had a degree in that, so it is hardly a glowing endorsement is it?
Report Menelaus February 26, 2012 10:54 PM GMT
The ONLY ones I "deride" Wipeout are morons who pollute the forum with their rubbish. You and your lover are the leading culprits.

I never claimed to be an expert in anything. The degree I have is what it is. Take it or leave it. It has however given me the tools to be able to analyze economic issues and apply some critical thinking. You are not even remotely able to do that and that's why you keep being taken to the cleaners.....and post about it to boot.

I do pride myself however for being an excellent judge of character. I can state with a great deal of confidence that your upbringing leaves a lot to be desired, and one I wouldn't want to wish on my worse enemies. I know sc@m when I see it.
Report Whippet February 27, 2012 9:26 PM GMT
there you go again. you are seemingly incapable of answering any question that makes you out to be the fool you are. Instead you prefer to simply insult people, or better yet, ignore the question completely. And you have the nerve to call me a coward and a child. You aren't far away from playground antics the way you carry on.

How about answering points 1-4 above (especially number 3, which I asked you about months ago and you still haven't replied). Or are you going to continue to act like a coward and a fool your whole life?
Report Menelaus February 27, 2012 10:33 PM GMT
Forget child and fool, let's stick to coward, hypocrite and moron, a lot closer to the truth.

The NG question was up for days without a single one of you clueless mugs taking a stab at it. The minute I post an opinion backed by facts, you show up to take a shot at me, and claim that I deride others to boot. Somewhere in that you'll find the true definition of hypocricy in real time.

I'm not answering your questions because school is out. I'm done educating you mugs on here, that includes you.

Don't bother responding, my conversation with a low life like you is over. Just thread lightly on this forum, don't make any laughable mistakes like you've done in the past, and you have nothing to fear. Continue to post drivel and you'll be b1tch slapped before you even have a chance to re-read your own post, that you can be sure about. You want "deride", "deride" you shall have.

And there's nothing hypocritical about my low opinion of you. I mean every word.

Natural gas prices dip below $2

By CHRIS KAHN, AP Energy Writer – 28 minutes ago

NEW YORK (AP) — The price of natural gas has dropped below $2 for the first time in more than a decade.

A mild winter and a production boom have left the U.S. with more natural gas than Americans can consume. The glut has pushed down the price of gas 59 percent since it peaked at $4.85 per 1,000 cubic feet last summer. And prices have been tumbling all year.

Gas fell to $1.999 per 1,000 cubic feet Wednesday afternoon. The last time it fell below $2 was Jan. 28, 2002, when it hit $1.91.

Melly ("I try to stay in touch"Laugh)only just spotted this trend and even then needed JR's help. His opinion (based on every pop finance show on telly who have talking about for weeks) is that it might keep going down.
One of the many ways of playing the market was to be MASSIVELY short on AAPL for the entire time of the NG move, so one reason he doesn't trade NG is because he has no money left.
