I'm surprised you can spell "intellectual" !!!!
What happened to YOUR "apple is overbought" and "I'm looking at other opportunities" post, $100s lower on the share price ago? Or do you, due to being brain dead, suffer from short term memory loss? Back to yesterday's blow out numbers though: I don't know, perhaps it's all the rubbish propaganda I'm being bombarded with every day (anyone pay attention to Sir Mervyn King's "don't despair" speech the other day? - if that didn't make you throw up your lunch nothing ever will) that makes me roll my eyes in disbelief, but colour me sceptical. Or perhaps it's because every data point released by the government and the BoE is manipulated and proven bogus once you look past the headline, but something just doesn't sit right with me here. They report blow out numbers, with their biggest market (US) declining 6pc in sequential units sold and with the largest sequential gain in units sold (26pc) in.......wait for it......Europe. Hmmmm......... http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/000119312512021833/d287503dex992.htm I need to look into this further but may be there's a chance that all those Greeks taking their money out of Greek banks decided to all buy iPads rather than see their money diminish by being converted back to drachmas, or perhaps austerity is a code word for "buy an iPhone". It's a possibility........ |

look up up the definitions of "overweight" and "overbought" dimwit.
only read the first few lines of your ramblings so can't comment further but glad to have resurrected you from your receivership. hope this isn't a dead cat bounce. |
|
By:
Yeah, my mistake, you weren't *REALLY* looking for other opportunities, you were just playing with definitions // snark
As of the rest of my post, well, you just didn't bother reading it. I understand. /// more snark Some of us read beyond the headlines, you halfwit. But, wait, wait, how about you entertain us with another "apple vs. silver" cage match? ![]() |
|
By:
not playing with definitions, overweight and overbought have already been defined, like i say, look them up sometime.
only thing i'm playing with is you. and oh yes, apple v silver cage match update just around the corner.... |
|
By:
aapl annualized return currently at over 42 percent, thanks for the reminder.

By:
42 percent annualized irrelevant though considering i'm overweight in apple derivatives if that's any consolation.
|
|
By:
though conservative derivatives bought in oct (APR12 400s) now up around 100 percent
|
|
By:
That's 5 posts on the trot there fanboy, touch a nerve did I?
Since you are shamelessly aftertiming trades from Oct despite posting the contrary ("it's overbought" and "I'm looking at other opportunities"), can I shamelessly post that a bought a boat load of BAC at $5.64, closed the trade today, and barely waited a month to make more money than you'll ever see in your lifetime, or is that violate the rules of whatever perverted world you seem to be living in? |
|
By:
what you should shamelessly post melly is that you bought gold at 1680 and still had it at 1522.
you are a complete clown melly. |
|
By:
|
|
By:
My bad, it's not a perverted world you live in, it's just warped.
You spent all that time to prove what precisely? You are a fantasist, I get it, enough said, you didn't have to waste all that time. |
|
By:
so, your argument to being identified as a fantasist is to yell back "No, YOU'RE a fantasist!".
that's debate at the level of a 7 year old. but at least the receivers have left you that. |
|
By:
No dimwit, the "debate" started about something you never bothered addressing.
They reported blow out numbers in Europe. Unless you were in a comma and just regained consciousness, those numbers look suspect. Recession (depression in some sovereigns), austerity, rising unemployment, currency crisis in some sovereigns, declining consumer spending, declining business confidence and declining GDP growth everywhere doesn't translate into a stunning sequential gain of 26pc in units sold in Europe. But what the feck, Citi lied about their numbers, BAC fudged their numbers, Caterpillar just used the most innovative accounting ever invented and no one is calling them on it. Why would anyone bother calling out Apple, when every major hedge fund benefits from the earnings report? Someone will be the bag holder sooner or later, just make sure it's not you. |
|
By:
I do have a question for you though.
Where is that $100 or so billion Apple is now sitting on? Is it cash in a bank (I'm sure if that's the case distributed in a number of financial institutions)? Is it in cash and "money good" securities? Seriously, where is it and what's it in? I have done some research on this, and I know how it's reported on their income statement, but so far I haven't been able to find a definitive answer to the above question. |
|
By:
cash, corporate securities, municipal securities, us treasury/agency securities, non-us government securities, cds, commercial paper, mutual funds.
another 50 billion to come in 2012. |
|
By:
Do you know the breakdown?

I finally tracked someone down in their Investor Relations group. For a company that's done such a fantastic job with their branding, it's surprising how difficult it is to get a hold of anyone.
No CDS, no agency paper. I didn't think they could be involved in the CDS business, nor how could they be considered "money good" unless their counterparty is the FED. Nor did I think even Apple had the arrogance to explain to their investors that they are sitting on $100bn in cash without paying a dividend, but they are buying fannies and freddies, when the only way those GSEs exist is due to constant and ongoing massive life support from the US tax payers. They added $16bn to that stash last quarter so that "another 50 billion to come in 2012" pretty much assumes blow out numbers from here to infinity. I have a feeling someone will call them on it if they continue to report stunning blow out sequential unit sales out of Europe of all places. Good luck with that. |

melly has completely lost the plot now.
numerous people have presented impossible to refute evidence, yet he still tries to claim he is in the right. Melly is a complete liar and a hypocrite. I am still waiting for him to admit that swing/position trading is a perfectly valid strategy. He uses it himself all the time, yet then comes on the forum saying that you can only make money unless you take positions for less than 30 seconds. Which is it melly you div? ![]() |
|
By:
wipeout, you are a child (apologies to all the children in the world, including those with down syndrome)
(P.S. I raised a point about the blowout europe numbers looking suspect but not one of you know or understand enough to debate me on it. Instead, I get he same old tired bullsh1t......melly this, mally that....Let's face it, I take you chaps to school every day on here and......THERE'S NOT A DAMN THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT it except resorting to hurling insults) |
|
By:
should read CDs (certificates of deposit). i don't follow the exact breakdown, it's a conservative portfolio.
a sensible investor would be very pleased with Apple's performance, dividend should not be factored in. 4 similar quarters plus returns on cash will cover 50 billion. not sure what you're groping for here, apple has nothing to gain by fudging a number that analysts have historically failed to fully grasp, and it already has a single figure forward p/e BEFORE backing out cash. a buy back or dividend wouldn't justify the current price, it would lift it. ie not factored in. and given your broad opinion, isn't contacting IR a waste of both their and your time? |
|
By:
cds you initially posted is a looong way from CDs but yes, I accept it as a typo, let's move on.
Where you fall short is stating "apple has nothing to gain by fudging a number that analysts have historically failed to fully grasp" and accepting at face value, for a reported number that JUST DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. You accept it at face value, I don't. It's my nature to question things that look odd, and haven knows we've seen our share of them lately (Have you seen the latest French GDP numbers? Monty Python came up with stuff that were way less funny) To each his own and good luck going forward. |

yes melly has capitulated.
His AUD recommendation an epic fail. GAme over for this monumental pretender. |
|
By:
Under normal circumstances it would be safe to say that after melly's epic fail on the AUD and SP call that a normal person would call it a day and realise they have been soundly spanked just once too often.
![]() But melly is not normal. He has identity issues. He will be back.Claiming he won and its all a conspiracy. ![]() This clueless imbecile has nothing better to do I guess, just another penniless buffoon. Welcome back melly- its just a matter of time. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
