As Eton Hogg pointed out the forum is becoming clogged with the melly issue.

I agree, the forum has become bogged down with deflecting this imbecile.

Its become clear that this dropkick just wont go away.

He seems to thrive on attention.

So my solution is to suggest we ALL ignore him.

No matter how much he attempts to make anyone hackles rise IGNORE him.

Don't respond to him in any form.

Don't support any comments that refer to him.

Apparently there is a feature here now where you can put posters on ignore and their post content does not appear.

This could form part of the solution.

We can then go back to exchanging ideas, debating and seeking info.

Hi Ben. There are bearish patterns in both gold and silver atm. For both, I would expect them to continue lower for a little while yet, before establishing a solid support level, from which they will start to increase again. Gold could possibly head as low at $1250, but I doubt that will happen, if it did, there would be people getting their wheelbarrows out to load up on the stuff. Laugh

I am currently biding my time, to load up on both again. Gold sub $1300 and Silver $25-$26 will be my signal to get the shovel and wheelbarrow out. Laugh

guys, only one question for you.
if only on speculation of possible hikes coming - but with rates still at zero - we had an 80 dollars correction in gold, you have any idea where it would go when the rates normalize to 2-3% ? sub 1000 would be very likely...
Report Mrben January 25, 2011 3:09 AM GMT
Im with you there johhnie re gold.Im thinking the same as whippet, first stop around 1250, the lower and lower
I have a long range bet based on gold going under 1000 in the last 3 mths of 2011 and the first 3 mths of 2012.
Report Menelaus January 25, 2011 8:16 AM GMT
Since I'm the only "guy" here (the other two are brain dead), I'll try to answer your question. Gold has  NOTHING to do with where rates are going (during 2004 to 2007, Gold went up even when the FED raised rates, it actually doubled because monetary base was still expanding). It's where the USD is going. Keep your eye on the real elephant in the room.

Gold is certainly at the moment headed lower (the chart shows an ominous triple top but with solid resistance at 1280 and then 1250) but I'll go on record right here, and right now, YOU'LL NEVER SEE GOLD AT UNDER $1,000 EVER AGAIN, and EVER is a long time.

(Consider: The US Federal debt is now at $13+ trillion. If you include unfunded liabilities (social security, medicaid and medicare) then you are looking at about $56 trillion (David M. Walker) to $200 trillion (Laurence Kotlikoff) depending who you choose to believe. How do you fund trillion dollar deficits in perpetuity, and how would this affect the USD ? Answer this correctly and you'll know where Gold is going long term.)
Report Menelaus January 25, 2011 9:22 PM GMT
support, not resistance, duh?
Report johnnie walker January 25, 2011 9:57 PM GMT
of course gold has a lot to do with rates, surely with the us rates as you say it yourself when you mention that gold is heading the opposite direction of the dollar. i might add, gold like all the other risky assets and ccies went up because of this flood of liquidity ( call it inflation hedge ) from everywhere, so any tightenign bias - this time coming from asia for example - will put pressure on gold, silver, equities and so on.
still, im with you about gold being more likely going up in the long term. but thats nothing new. to give you an idea just on a forward basis it s supposed to go up by 3% per cent per year, the 10yr is above 2000, and so on... but here we re talking about medium term , 3 to 12mths time, and my feeling is that the market can be caught badly on this one ( we re down 90dlrs ytd while the dxy is down too ) especially if the tightening threats materialize and produce proper hikes.
anyway, gold not going to 1000 ever is a bold statement, but to make sure you know, you could have said in the next 5yrs and wouldnt have changed almost anything, as with the forward pointing so steepily upwards, any extra 1yr of time value doesnt increase, or only marginally, Nd2 (BlackScholes speaking) ;-)

billy, are you really that thick?

Yes, I do enjoy watching US racing and trading a few quid in the evening, where have I ever said I spent the whole day studying form? Here's what I posted in it's entirety, not just a part of intended to mislead:

"who said I don't have an interest on US racing??? I trade and follow quietly for years, comment on occasion. I also have been here long enough to know that you can't just impose on the forum the belief that you are a premium charges punter, you have to prove it beyond posting photoshopped P/L statements. Everything you have ever posted on this forum points to a different direction. Seek help"

I follow the legends on the forum that you so resent, jas, spiller and The Canadian. Yes, the very same Canadian that exposed you as a fraud, has taken your money and rubbed your face in it, and the one that has messed your head so bad, you've are inline for the most pathetic poster of the year award.

Here's who you are. You have been posting rubbish on both the UK and US racing forums for years under different monikers, the pro, iron and winstonsmith are some of them. You have been banned from Betfair for a considerable time when posting anti-semitic remarks and claiming you were attending neo-nazi training camps. You litter the forum with photoshopped P/L statements in an ill conceived effort to convince posters that you are a premium charges punter. You've been called out by many, myself included, when making errors in those posted P/L statements which exposed you as a complete fraud.

I sincerely think you've gone totally insane, totally mad, completely over the edge with your hatred for The Canadian. You need to get over him if you ever have a "normal" life again. For the love of Jesus, seek professional help.

Hi Ben,

It might be fun to read his posts if you are depressed, but I wouldn't try and engage a conversation with him. He is one of the most boring people alive, and just talking to him for a few seconds would be enough to drive most people to suicide. Laugh

Do you know what the best part of this is? He is probably sat there in his "command centre" (a.k.a his parent's basement Laugh), absolutely seething that we aren't responding to him. This is almost a better tactic than responding to his posts, because whilst he was certainly seething about getting owned by us all the time, the attention seeker that he is will mean he is going absolutely ballistic that we are no longer responding to him. Laugh

Btw, I have just found a video of Melly sat in his parent's basement trolling the betfair forum: LaughLaugh

J2BLUE, thanks for your support but "ganging up" on me when the three of them have a combined IQ smaller than that of goldfish is hardly an issue.

The reason wipeout and Mr Bean "dislike me" is because I called them on the constant drivel they post on here. The other guy has been messed up by a poster on the US racing forum who posts with the moniker "The Canadian" and he thinks it's me. Crazy.
