Yes silver was a good buy, and remains a value buy.
Slowly but surely the investors are coming on board and pushing this thing up...

hate to rain on your parade here but.If it is in fact true that JPM holds huge shorts in silver do you think its possible that JPM is orchestrating the rise so as to suck enough lambs in only to smash it down when it sees fit?

by all means take a risk of say 5% of your capital but don't get too involved that your part of a scheme to bring down JPM.The  chance your being take for a ride is far greater.

Oh my, oh my, the more Mr Bean posts the more he confirms how clueless he is.

Try googling this Mr Bean, when you are awake and not making money that is:

Blythe Masters takes massive silver short positions for JPM

Congessman Gary Miller's letter to the CFTC

CFTC silver contracts monthly Bank Participation Report

JPM takes over Bear Stearns silver short positions on COMEX

And start putting the pieces together. Or is even this way beyond your ability.

Your posts are starting to really entertain me.

oh melly, it was fun teasing you for a while but now I just feel sympathy for you.In this post you exposed what a lamb you really are.You are one of the lambs being led to slaughter. It is guys like you who are continuosly tranferring your"losses" into the accounts of guys like me.

I dont follow silver markets  but I do know how markets work. If you cant see that markets are manipulated already I'm not going to expalain it to you.Your not listening anyway.

For maket manipulation see the last 5 trading sessions of the AUD, euro and to a lesser extent gold.

Your belief in  published reports and speeches by "experts"  confirms your lamb status.

I dont need to google or read reports to dictate what I should do.I merely need to follow market action.

All your post melly involved listing reports, telling us about your high education and throwing insults at any one who  disagrees. You are clearly incapable of debating and seek to bully anyone to your opinion. However your statements are totally vacuous.

Others here are of different opinions and will debate their point of view but you just keep quoting reports. No doubt thats what you spend your days doing at the lab, reading the same reports.Seeking out reports which confirm other reports.Your next original thought will be your first one.

I have more to say but I'm off to enjoy some of the debt I accumulated during the week.

Mr Bean,I don't invest with the emotional outlook of hurting or helping particular organisations - so my agreement with OP wasn't based on JP as such.

Second, every trade or speculative outlay I make is based on my own judgements(but other's arguments can sometimes sway me of course) of the facts and calculation of probable developments.

short-term $27 or $30 ??
medium-term $24 or $33 ??
long-term $17 or $40 ??

you decide...

1) china increases silver acquisition(monetary store?? or industrial or wat?? - you decide)

2) smaller market trading means more potential upside to the availabe investment liquidity

3) gold is a political metal and physical reserves and so on are messed around with much more by the powers-that-be.

4) currency uncertainties - euro and US$$ (I like the AUS$ vs the euro earlier this year so made money there).

5) the position of JPM doesn't worry me. You don't give a strong reason for why silver is too high(and will fall) apart from maybe JPM are 'sucking lambs in'.

6) To reiterate, most of the value has gone I'll admit, but there's more potential for further upside than downside IMHO.

7) I'm not yet expert on physical vs paper or mining stock in metals. Read much, but can't yet interpret the layers of activity into evaluating of possibilties of price drop/rise.

Anyone care to comment

Still learning,

I'll comment ahosang.
Firstly to say it is much more interesting to read and think about a post like yours than to  suffer thru the rants of melly.

all your arguments seem sound to me to support the upside.

re the JPm position.Im not saying one way or the other the effect of the JPM posi because 1.I dont follow silver and 2.I don't trade via "predictions".

WHat I am saying is that the markets are manipulated and it is very possible that  the great JPM short position which is apparently known to all, COULD be designed to suck lambs in.It may or may not be the case.BUt do not take a position based on that premise, or if your a true believer in the lets destroy JPM  , then risk  just a part of your portfolio.Say 5%.
JPM didnt get that big by allowing themselves to be taken to the cleaners by amatuers.

You may have read in some of my posts I certainly do not believe there will be any catastropic fall in the value of anything.Collapse is neither imminent or likely.

Best of luck with your positions. Benny.

i'm in there....impossible for silver not to reach 50 in the next 24 months....just to catch up to inflation.  then consider how they are devaluating all currencies.... we could get 100+ silver.  3/4 ton in the coffers @ 100 per oz, that may pay melanies bill @ Denny's.....stick em, max!
Report Menelaus December 14, 2010 12:59 PM GMT
Just out of curiosity, winston, where and how do you store 3/4 ton silver?

I don't think you worked out the math of what you just posted. Best go back to the US Racing forum, they waaaay more gullible over there.

Report Menelaus December 14, 2010 1:22 PM GMT
I'll spare you the googling and trying to work out the math. 3/4 ton of silver in it's most "space efficient" form which is 1000oz bullion bars would occupy 3 cu. ft. of space.

But then again knowing you and your vast wealth, gold and silver bullion holdings, you probably installed a bank vault size safe in your home. I apologize for my mistake.

And so you know, The Canadian is still spending your Breeders Cup money in Argentina visiting his in-laws. He'll be back to take more of it the first of the year. Happy Holidays.

as far as the comedian goes, not sure what your relationship with him is, but I'll bet my last dollar he has NEVER had a winning year gambling.  And I've decided to give UK racing a shot....US was no longer a challenge....only play in the winter....relax in the summer....not a bad start to the winter.

The Canadian was right after all, you DO live in some kind of alternate reality.

Again, my suggestion to you is to go back to the US Racing forum where you came from. Posting fake screenshots and pretending to be financially savvy by posting "buy gold" don't get you far on this forum.

This is the weirdest story I've seen.  It trumps all the other stories and misunderstandings about finance during this cruch - and that's hard.

JP is not short silver.
JP has huge silver vaults and covered ETFs in physical metals
JP has been long paper for the last few years and has made big metals profits from it.

I know all this for facts.
Report getting better March 15, 2011 12:34 PM GMT
Well if they're long paper silver then other people (like me following Whippet's post the other day) must be short the same amount. Of course the shorts could be covered by physical or forward sales by producers.
I suppose that some of the same people who are long silver may be long uranium, and they must be having a pretty miserable time of it.

Say hello to $40 silver. Good times!
Report J2BLUE. April 8, 2011 9:26 PM BST
I am very, very bullish on silver but I just don't buy this 'crash JP Morgan' campaign. In fact, dare I say it, i'm with Mr Ben in as much as we might be being taken for a ride as far as the campaign goes. Let me state one thing, silver, in my opinion is going much, much higher. However, the same people saying crash JP Morgan are the same people saying they are in bed with the fed. We've heard things like they have shorted one billion ounces thay they don't have and a price rise of $20 would be enough to crash them. Surely that is in direct contradiction to them being in bed with the fed? What is a few billion to the fed? With their creative accounting (putting it mildly) does anyone really think they could find a few quid to bail out their friends and hide it on the balance sheet? They have the power to print money!

I just think anyone buying to crash JPM is in for a shock. Silver is a great investment IMO but I would be shocked if the most corrupt bank in the world (allegedly etc..) could be taken down because of a loss of a few billion when they have such powerful allies. It really wouldn't surprise me if they had bought loads of physical metal (like the huge copper purchase) and covered their shorts in devalued paper given to them by the fed in the future.

Maybe i'm missing something. I'm always willing to be educated if I am.
Report PierreLaRogue April 8, 2011 11:00 PM BST
I'm thinking of getting into the uranium as i wasn't in it before, the amount of copper and silver required in green energy is going to kill it. Nuclear will be the only option left in 10 yrs, you can't make wind turbines and solar from precious metals, and thats what copper and silver will end up being.
