If they hit first time I'll show my arse in Tesco's window.

They are much more likely to run out of money before striking oil. Much, much more likely. However, if they do strike.....

Did you know that it took 72 wells before they struck oil in the North Sea?

A rig costs about $300k a day at least. Wells take 3 months. $30m a pop - let's hope they don't take 72!

"Did you know that it took 72 wells before they struck oil in the North Sea?"

drilling technology has made massive advances since then, even small pockets of oil, well out of reach in those early days are much more accessible now. I reckon they will be pretty much on the ball and get it soon

no doubt they will hit oil what quality amounts gas in the field h2s content etc will detrmine the value

what other oil/gas stock offers better value? few minnows out there, anything worth a punt?
Report Ganton February 23, 2010 5:53 PM GMT
I jumped in on MTA a few months ago and at current price I am hoping for at least 20% gains.

I also hold SEY and currently looking at a punt on RXP

Rockhopper is better value although you might as well own both

do you think that Brown would have prepared to send troops if there wasn't oil there

there is also only way the oil price is going

ganton , RXP have been flat for awhile, what price you see in 6-12 month

RXP as a medium term view with its positions in Kazakhstan.

From a geography perspective I think Kazahstan offers great potential

My one share for 2010 (in that thread) is Aminex (AEX)

If you want a gamble, they are currently drilling in Tanzania (well Tullow are but Aminex have a 37.5% share). Last week, Anadarko found a huge gas field just south in Mozambique.

This share will go down by half or treble within the next month.

Place your bets!

Share price on this is very swingy. I might take a chance on them hitting a duster on the liz and then have a gamble if it goes to 70p or something.
