Local shopping centre (biggest in Scotland) had a lot of empty units a year ago, but lots of them have now been snapped up. Woolworths has become Iceland.

When the economic life support runs out of juice, I expect we'll see a turn for the worse.

I went to an open meeting in respect of a local Tesco planning application. One of the comments was that the applicants had over 640 planning proposals for new stores currently being considered. When you take into account they have some 2300 stores already, you start to think there are two economies. Dovetail that into Tesco's expansion last year was only some 167 stores! So it doesn't look like they see any downturn.

Another chain store died recently. More to follow imo. Don your tinfoil hats and pile your gold up under your beds!

Tesco's expansion is destroying small family sized stores, they want it all for themselves, I like shopping their its a good model but I loath the company
