Started reading Liaquat Ahamed's Lords of Finance but need a decnt primer to go with it. Any ideas ?

Always been a huge fan of Peter Schiff and his old man.

Economics is a very simple science complicated and ruined primarily by those that dont understand it and in turn add very little value to it, specifically Governments and the FIRE industries (Finance, Insurance and Real Estate).

Id recommend reading Peters Book Crash Proof also.

That doesn't surprise me, seeing as he is so anti-government. It is true that the vast majority of tax we pay is simply wasted (lining the pockets of the few).

I only read 'layman' ones like the ascent of money ,vince cable's The storm and robert peston's one. All were fine to me.

I would be sceptical of taking anything as gospel from more techincal publications given that 'expert' bankers 'calculated' the credit crunch was a a 1 in 5 universe lifetime event

In the picture in that pdf there is more than a passing resemblance to Vince Cable. Never been seen in the same room!
