I am reasearching for next year and to be honest its still early days, so would rather have a comp on Jan 1 2010.
Its hard sometimes to know what to do for the best.I have made very decent profits and frankly my money is sitting in 1% savings accounts because am waiting for the right opportunity to present itself.Call me cautious if you like but I enjoy the research angle. Let you know when the "lightbulb" goes on IMO of course.... |

If you have cash on the sidelines, and are prepared to gamble a bit here is a tip for you:
Cove Energy (COV) spudded a well in Mozambique on about 14th October, which is expected to take about a month (so will take about 2 months). When the result is known, if it is good, then Aminex's acreage across the border in Tanzania will be much more valuable - and that too is expected to be drilled soon (end of year/early next year). So - watch for a result at COV, and if good, buy AEX (currently 8.5p). |

In case anyone has any alphameric , I wouldnt be too keen on selling now until at least 40p (now 34p) as various irons in the fire which may well add value to the shareprice and in my opinion very very little downside.Indeed if they go down to 30p or so they a buy.

Bid was called off yesterday and duly dropped to 29.5p or so.In my view a buying opportunity that was too hard to miss. Will be financially and mentally drained if they not up to 40p within 6 months. The divi as it is now will return over 6% and i fail to see how this wont be maintained or even increased.
DYOR etc but really worth a look. |

Well Hope you already bought Laddies cos they finished 145p today.
Overtime though think both must go higher.Have done loads of research on these two companies and SEEM to be cheap.Have been wrong before though. Will keep posting if I think you should add or reduce but I have targets of 45p for alphameric and 190 for Ladbrokes before i sell. DYOR etc etc etc |

IF and it is a big IF
if fobt were taken out of the shops, the share price would collapse |
|
By:
Have investigated this possibility and feel it is not on the agenda although of course that may change.Realistically the business is in better shape now due to better risk control mechanisms and a move away from low margin business (like horseracing) and into sports/poker and lotteries based turnover which bet to better margins/fees.
Two vague possibilities which might really help the share price and are at least as likely as the FOBT removal are the UIEGA amendments in America to free up internet account movements for gambling and dare I say it a takeover by some big casino concern which wants exposure to the European markets. Time will tell. |

If anyone had taken Kevin 7654's advice on 2 Jan 2009 and bought Hogg Robinson shares @ 5.5p and held them, they would have 21 times their original investment in a little over 9 years!
Current price 116.5p after a takeover bid from Amex. |

Unfortunately, they would have done their conkers on his other two picks from that post!
