SIA (SOCO) will double in January due to sale of assets
AFR (Afren) will find oil at Cuda in January
AEX (Aminex) will find oil in Tanzania in June

All oil companies so risky. No widows or orphans need apply.

RBS - new internal staff share shave issued at 38p so that should help provide some internal momentum and improve morale to generate results

Vodafone - people are entrenched with their mobile phone use so I cannot really see too much drop in revenues

Rio Tinto - whats in the ground aint going back in, sell off has been massively overdone.

If its not too late would like to have a go.

Nighthawk Energy 30p (oil exploration in usa with seemingly good initial test results)

Hogg Robinson 5.5p
recovery stock that makes 20-30 million a year.
Have Ministry of Defence contract tied in for rolling 3 year contract which accounts for a lot of this profit.Any recovery elsewhere in the company in for nowt.(downside may go skint as they owe £130 million or so)

Alphameric 15p

Holds the exclusive rights to 30 of UK racetracks.Fought off the Big three monopoly of SIS and won a court case saying they acted fairly.Chance of appeal which is holding back the shares but in my view a takeover more likely.Has £15 million in cash at bank and no debt.

really fancy avanti communications 237p as a new potential star once the above run their course. In my opinion Hogg will get taken over at 35p sometime during the Summer and Alm will get to 40p on results alone.
Nighthawk can easily get to £1.

Avanti up to 288 today. In my view have a long way to go and wouldnt consider selling before £4.
Alphameric interim results out tomorro with (hopefully)news of a divi for the shareholders.they trade at 29p or so now and when they get to 35p may consider taking profit/s.
Nighthawk in a bit of a rut after losing potential partner, but still around 31p so no harm done.still well undervalued.
Hogg has been up to 30p but now around 23p due to swine flu and economic concerns.

A friend of mine in November, 1996, put this on our "list for 1997".

In December, when we were compiling the list and allocating investment in each, a friend of mine said it didn't feel right. We invested anyways but when it rocketted at the beginning of the year, we sold even though previous years we had said that no selling till four months into the year. One of my friends insisted saying that it just "didn't look right" (worked for a brokerage in Toronto).

Little did we know we made a huge profit on one of Canada's biggest stock scandals.

avanti 334 --a long way to run in my opinion
Nighthawk 43p on placing
hogg 28p and maybe time to sell now as trading conditions are not too good aparantly.

Any spare cash would do worse than buy Arena shares.I know they been around a lot and havent really shone but feel they might get a lift following excellent summer attendances.

Its hard sometimes to know what to do for the best.I have made very decent profits and frankly my money is sitting in 1% savings accounts because am waiting for the right opportunity to present itself.Call me cautious if you like but I enjoy the research angle.

If you have cash on the sidelines, and are prepared to gamble a bit here is a tip for you:

Cove Energy (COV) spudded a well in Mozambique on about 14th October, which is expected to take about a month (so will take about 2 months).

When the result is known, if it is good, then Aminex's acreage across the border in Tanzania will be much more valuable - and that too is expected to be drilled soon (end of year/early next year).

So - watch for a result at COV, and if good, buy AEX (currently 8.5p).

In case anyone has any alphameric , I wouldnt be too keen on selling now until at least 40p (now 34p) as various irons in the fire which may well add value to the shareprice and in my opinion very very little downside.Indeed if they go down to 30p or so they a buy.
Report kevin7654 December 5, 2009 6:49 AM GMT
Bid was called off yesterday and duly dropped to 29.5p or so.In my view a buying opportunity that was too hard to miss. Will be financially and mentally drained if they not up to 40p within 6 months. The divi as it is now will return over 6% and i fail to see how this wont be maintained or even increased.

IF and it is a big IF
if fobt were taken out of the shops, the share price would collapse
Report kevin7654 January 6, 2010 3:55 PM GMT
Have investigated this possibility and feel it is not on the agenda although of course that may change.Realistically the business is in better shape now due to better risk control mechanisms and a move away from low margin business (like horseracing) and into sports/poker and lotteries based turnover which bet to better margins/fees.
Two vague possibilities which might really help the share price and are at least as likely as the FOBT removal are the UIEGA amendments in America to free up internet account movements for gambling and dare I say it a takeover by some big casino concern which wants exposure to the European markets.
Time will tell.
