Edinburgh Knight split Libranno and Majestic Myles in the Criterion in June and good effort in big-field Ascot handicap next time. No show in Group 2s last 2 runs but this more his level. Producer is a 7f specialist who goes well on downhill tracks, his 5 career wins coming at Epsom (4) and Goodwood (Group 3) most recently. More required under a penalty here but respected all the same. Scarf is a multiple winner in Australia and put up a smart performance when readily landing C&D minor event (soft) in July. That level of form puts him bang there but ran poorly on fast ground next time. Skilful was most impressive when routing opposition off mark of 93 at Haydock 12 months ago. Lightly raced since but ran best race yet when second in listed race at Windsor...

Timeform take a look at the listed St Hugh's Stakes over five furlongs at Newbury... Bridge Night followed up her Lingfield maiden win when landing a minor event at Windsor but well beaten in listed/Group company last 2 starts. Looks vulnerable again. Excel Yourself got off the mark at fifth attempt when making all in maiden at Wolverhampton last month. Big step up required in this, though. Jollification built on debut sixth when landing Salisbury maiden. Progressed again for all she was never a threat when fourth of 6 in Group 3 at Ascot next time. May still have more to offer. Lasilia won maiden at Hamilton and improved again when 4 lengths sixth of 27 in Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. Found only Morawij too strong in listed race at Sandown next...

Albamara romped home in 8.5f Epsom maiden last summer having looked unlucky loser at Kempton a week earlier. No show in Fillies' Mile following month but remains with potential for 2012. Apothecary raced solely on AW, winning Lingfield maiden and 9.5f Wolverhampton handicap. Respectable effort in Oaks Trial last month and respected, though Great Heavens seemingly yard's first string. Devine Guest shaped with promise when third in C&D maiden won by Vow in April, weakening close home. Open to improvement, but this is a good deal tougher. Great Heavens is a sister to Nathaniel. Form of Haydock maiden has worked out and she did her bit for it when easily winning 11.5f Yarmouth event on return (heavy going). Drops back in trip but looks the class act. Inchina...

Ektihaam was most impressive when winning first 2 starts last year and can't have been right when disappointing in Dewhurst on final start. Remains a good prospect but does have to concede 4 lb all round here. Clean Bowled is thriving for current connections on AW this year, winning 5 times at up to 1¼m. Found 1½m stretching stamina last time and remains in-form, though up against some smart prospects on return to turf. Gold Rally is a half-brother to smart 5.5f/6.5f winner Principle Street. Made perfect start to his career when landing a heavy-ground 1m maiden at Haydock last autumn and should be more to come from him at 3. Halling's Quest improved upon his debut form when slamming rivals in 1m Southwell maiden in October. Step up to 1¼m sure to ...

Petit Robin was a very smart chaser in his time but not seen since fracturing a shoulder in January 2011. Betting should guide as to what is expected from him back from a break and over hurdles. Topolski won his first 3 outings over hurdles, completing hat-trick in Grade 2 at Aintree last spring. First signs of promise this year when third at Fontwell last time but needs to progress again. Gibb River won his first 3 starts over hurdles last season and made promising start to this campaign, close third in good Sandown handicap in December. Disappointing next time but still lightly raced. Dream Esteem is lightly raced over hurdles, showing herself better than ever last month when winning handicap at Chepstow by 1½ lengths from Charm School. 9 lb rise ...

Railway Dillon did well over hurdles last term but let down by attitude initially over fences. Came good fitted with blinkers when winning last 2 starts, jumping well, and bold bid for hat-trick on the cards. Larks Lad was a useful hurdler who showed initial promise in his chasing career. However, he was disappointing on last 2 starts, including on return to timber last time. Carribs Leap was a dual point/bumper winner who's shown fairly useful form over hurdles. Made a pleasing chase debut when second of 4 at Warwick last time and open to improvement in this sphere. Global Flyer was better than ever when bagging second handicap win over fences on return from a break at Huntingdon (2½m) in January. Just respectable efforts off new mark next 2 starts,...

13:00 - Grumeti was extremely impressive on his debut at Taunton last time, travelling kindly under Wayne Hutchinson before finding plenty for pressure in the closing stages to pull fourteen lengths clear of smart flat performer, Ted Spread. Grumeti is likely to improve for his debut run and is prominent in the market for this year's Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. This afternoon is likely to provide him with the extra experience he needs for that contest, and he looks banker material in our opener despite having to concede weight to the entire field. 13:30 - Bellvano is our second banker in quick succession and Nicky Henderson looks to have found him a perfect race in which he can regain the winning thread. Bellvano should be suited by the flat two miles at ...

Cue Card was a high-class hurdler who jumped fluently when making a winning start over fences at Chepstow last month. Still full of running when falling halfway at Cheltenham recently and remains capable of better. Mad Moose has been successful twice over fences in recent months. Lost no caste in defeat when chasing home a smart prospect in Grade 2 at Wincanton recently, but even more on his plate this time. Bobs Worth was most progressive when winning all 4 starts over hurdles last term, landing 3m Grade 1 Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham in March. Exciting recruit to the chasing ranks for powerful yard. Spirit River developed into a smart hurdler in 2009/10. Things not gone to plan since, falling both starts over fences during a light campaign last season...

Newbury's three-day Hennessy meeting kicks off on Thursday and the Grade 2 Worcester Novices' chase looks a real highlight... Grand Crus is a top-class hurdler who gave every indication he will prove to be just as good over fences when readily seeing off a strong field on chasing bow at Cheltenham recently and ought to follow up here. Viking Blond is a useful hurdler who has made a smooth transition to fences, following up all the way Chepstow (3m) win with good fourth at Cheltenham last time, but probably playing for minor honours again. Alfie Spinner is a dual hurdling winner who possesses the size and scope to do even better over fences, making a good start when chasing home Viking Blond at Chepstow last month, but this altogether tougher. Sonofvic...

Newbury stages the first of their eight-race card at 1:30 and Forest Row can get the day off to a winning start by taking the first division of the six and a half furlong maiden. The son of Cockney Rebel is a half-brother to globe-trotting Group 1 winner Presvis and he made a highly encouraging start to his own career when fifth at the same track in May. Well backed, Forest Row overcame a slow start to stay on with purpose in the closing stages, finishing best of all in a race that race has thrown up a whole host of winners, the best of which third-placedTrumpet Major, who subsequently won the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster. The slight step up in trip is sure to suit Clive Cox's charge and he can make light of his five-month absence and take this on the way to better things. Voodoo...
