Qustioning won the Earl of Sefton at Newmarket in April and followed that with good second in Sandown Group 2. Not been at best since, though, and carried head awkwardly when fifth in Group 3 at York last time. Pisco Sour showed smart form for Hughie Morrison last year, winning Tercentenary Stakes and Prix Eugene Adam. Disappointing for new yard this year, though, and gelded since last run. Cheekpieces also reached for. Voodoo Prince is a lightly-raced gelding who improved for reappearance to take 10-runner 1¼m Ripon handicap last month. Remains relatively unexposed and should continue on upward curve, but this demands more. Love Your Looks progressed well to win first 2 starts this year on polytrack, and runner-up in a trio of turf handicaps earlier...

King Dragon shaped well on debut and at Royal Ascot before getting off the mark at Windsor (6f) in July. Creditable effort in conditions event at Ripon since and has shaped as if this trip will suit. Luhaif improved when running out a 6-length winner of Newmarket maiden (7f) in June and back on the up when third to Olympic Glory in Group 2 Vintage Stakes here, but must bounce back from poor effort since. Professor was impressive when making a winning debut at Haydock (6f) in July and excuses when odds-on last of 4 in 7f novice event there since. Looks stable's preferred choice here and well worth another chance. Steeler confirmed debut promise when landing gamble in C&D maiden and better still to chase home Dundonnell in Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York ...

Edinburgh Knight has produced fine runner-up efforts last 2 starts, splitting Libranno and Majestic Myles in Group 3 at Newmarket on first occasion. Ran poorly in 6f Stewards' Cup on sole previous outing at Goodwood. Firebeam is a progressive gelding who ended 2011 with comfortable success in minor event at Haydock. Good second there on reappearance and not disgraced in 6f Group 3 at Newbury last time. Up in class. Libranno had the run of things when beating Edinburgh Knight and Majestic Myles narrowly in 7f Group 3 Criterion last time. Chance if allowed to dictate again, but was only fourth in this race 12 months ago. Mac Love has been a grand servant down years. Not quite the force of old, but showed he still has something to offer when third in Diomed...

Expense Claim improved on respectable 2-y-o efforts to win first 3 starts this year stepped up to this sort of trip, including in handicaps last 2 starts, and worthy of this step up in grade. Jungle Beat justified market strength on debut when winning warm 7f Newbury maiden. Shaped well on return in 9f Newmarket listed race (denied clear run) and has plenty more to offer up in trip. Michelangelo is a 550,000 gns son of Galileo who showed plenty of promise despite being thrown into deep end when close third of 5 in listed race at Newmarket on debut 3 weeks ago. Open to plenty of improvement. Perennial made winning debut at Doncaster in September and stayed on well to take second in Group 3 company on sole other start last term. Disappointed on return ...

Nayarra got off mark in style when taking Italian Group 1 on final run at 2 yrs. Close second in Nell Gywn on return before mid-field in 1000 Guiness. Sets standard but vulnerable under penalty up in trip. Coquet is from an excellent female line and quickly progressed to a useful level last term, taking 1m listed race at Newmarket on final run. Step up in trip will suit and has more to come this year. Estrela is a half-sister to several winners, notably smart King of Argos. Won Newbury maiden at 2 yrs and creditable third in Oaks Trial at Lingfield on return, shaping as if this drop in trip will suit. Gathering is a smartly-bred filly who confirmed debut promise when readily landing 1m maiden at Newmarket in September. Likely to stay this far but bit...

Three selections for Thursday's racing from Timeform's Free Form Website... The David Lanigan-trained Planetoid improved when winning a nine-runner handicap at Kempton last week by 2½ lengths from Reem Star. The form may look nothing out of the ordinary (the runner-up was soundly beaten yesterday), but Planetoid was still green during the race and after the penny dropped in the straight, he stayed on strongly and was well on top at the finish. The extra furlong will suit Planetoid this afternoon and he is taken to improve again and defy his penalty. Cry Fury confirmed the promise of his juvenile debut when landing an 11-furlong maiden at Kempton on his reappearance. The Roger Carlton-trained colt was then sent to Haydock and wasn't discredited when fifth behind...

Western Aristocrat (14:35) should get us off to a good start at Goodwood this afternoon. The Jeremy-Noseda trained colt has looked very progressive this year and caught the eye when finishing strongly in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot last time. Western Aristocrat is now stepped up to a mile and the form of his last run was franked by Strong Suit in the Lennox earlier this week, so he rates a good bet at around 2.6 today. Next up is Federation (15:30), who has shown progressive form in her three starts to date and is fancied to belatedly lose her maiden tag at Thirsk this afternoon. The selection was denied by the narrowest of margins by Red Eyes in a much stronger event at Newmarket last time, whilst pulling 9 lengths clear of the eventual third, and a reproduction of...

Indian Days won handicaps at this meeting in 2008 and 2010, and confirmed himself a smart performer with a gritty win in John Porter on reappearance. Out of depth in Group 1s last twice but this a bit easier. Campanologist won a brace of Group 1 events in Germany last year, and back to best when chasing home So You Think at the Curragh in May. Effort under pressure both starts since has been disappointing, though. Distant Memories is smart and consistent, only twice out of first 3 since debut. Didn't need to be at his best when scoring in listed race at Pontefract last time, but nothing less than a career best will do here. Drunken Sailor is a strong traveller who did well in 2010, winning 3 times in all including a listed race here (1¾m). Career best...

Amour Propre can get the ball rolling for us in the King George Stakes this afternoon given his prominent running-style should be ideally suited to Goodwood's sharp 5f course. Although a smart performer at two years, during which he won three of his four starts, including the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes at Ascot, Henry Candy's gelding has undoubtedly had problems since, most notably when returning from the 2009 Nunthorpe with bruised feet. However, he was almost back to his very best on his seasonal reappearance at York just nineteen days ago, and with that run likely to have bought him on from a fitness point of view, he looks sure to go close today. Opinion Poll has always threatened to deliver big race victory and his day in the sun could well be today. Since joining Mahmoud...

Blue Bajan has come right back to best for new yard this year, following second in Yorkshire Cup with victory in Henry II. Only tenth behind several of these in Ascot Gold Cup last time, however. Aaim To Prosper ended 2010 on a high with win in the Cesarewitch. Even better this year, beaten narrowly by Chiberta King in listed race at Sandown last time. That probably more his level than this. Allied Powers is a tough sort who was a dual Group winner at 1½m in France last year. Largely creditable efforts in defeat this term, but not guaranteed to stay this far. Bergo is a multiple winner over hurdles/fences, also successful in 2010 Queen Alexandra. Ran a blinder in 2m Group 3 at Meydan (in front of Opinion Poll) when last seen in March. One to consider. Chilberta...
