Three to back at Jebel Ali

02 Dec 11 09:13
It's possibly wishful thinking on my part to expect Ru'oud to be much of a price in the 10:35 but he really should take plenty of beating in a maiden that lacks depth. He ran two promising races for Saeed bin Suroor last year, both over 1m, and on both occasions he absolutely tanked along before his effort petered out. The form is strong, beaten only by Colour Vision on his debut then fifth to Census at Bath and, if anything, he should be suited by this drop to 6f. Two concerns are obviously the lack of a recent run and the application of a tongue tie, but it will still be disappointing if he can't account for a field that are either fully exposed or very limited in ability.

Dhruba Selvaratnam hit top form at Meydan last week with three winners and hopefully Otaared can keep the ball rolling in the conditions event at 12:00. He's won first time out for the last two seasons (all three winners last week were reappearing) and he is well suited by the conditions of this race. Two of his three victories last season came over this course and distance and although he's conceding 3 lb all round, he is the class act and should make that count at the expense of Atlantic Brave.

Mubarak bin Shafya is still to saddle a winner this year but he's had several finish in the frame and there is a strong chance that Secretive will bring the drought to an end in the concluding event at 13:05. He's finished runner-up at Jebel Ali the last twice, including on his reappearance a couple of weeks ago, and his prominent style of racing is well suited to this track. Not many of his rivals are in form or can be trusted at the best of times, so Secretive's straightforward nature should stand him in good stead in this.

Back Ru'oud in the 10:35 at Jebel Ali
Back Otaared in the 12:00 at Jebel Ali
Back Secretive in the 13:05 at Jebel Ali
