At long last! I have reached the £50K mark.
That said, I was expecting to have achieved this 3 months ago. However, better late than never. Another potentially good piece of news is that today, a Sunday, and well known (by me at least) for being one of the quietest days, has turned out to give me 6 betting opportunities AND at reasonable odds. Could it be that the markets are beginning to turn in my favour at long last ... we shall see.

What a great end to the month - NOT!

The positives for this month are the 100% Strike Rate (can't improve on that) and the fact that this is my 3rd highest month in terms of profits. The negative is the dearth of selections. 36 bets LESS THAN my previous low in September. Had I managed to match my previous low (110 bets) and assuming that my Profit-per-Bet remained the same, I would have had my best month ever - about £8,500. So what can I deduce from that? Well, I think my selection criteria appears to be pretty robust - and that is good. The downside to getting my selection criteria spot-on is maybe (I stress maybe) that I don't get as many bets. That sounds reasonably logical to me. We shall see if this holds up in the next month or two - or if October was just an aberration. Only time will tell ... plus of course discipline and patience (as always).

Today is a very good example of how better odds can make a huge difference. Only two selections BUT look at the profit! Combine this with 4 or 5 selections and the results will suddenly be great. So, just discipline and patience - that is all that is required.

I am now 300 days into this 'test'. A quick review may be in order - so here goes...

The negatives first. I expected to be over the £75K mark by now, so what happened? Well, two things actually. One was that I had not refined my 'method' as well as I thought I had. This has led to losses that could have been avoided. In my estimation this lack of refinement most probably 'cost' me about £5K over the 300 days. The second negative was/is that I had not factored in the drop-off of selections across the last three months! That came at a 'cost' of £20K or more (in my opinion).

Now the positive (note the singular). My method has been under constant refinement and one obvious result is plain to see - this month, so far, I have a 100% win rate. I don't for one moment expect that rate to continue. Sooner or later one of my selection will buck the trend. That's reality.

Looking ahead, there will come a time (hopefully in the next few weeks) when two factors should come together. There will be more selections that meet my criteria AND the odds on those selections will improve. Once that happens (and happen it will) I will start to make serious money. What do I mean by 'serious money'? At this level I would expect to be able to generate between £500 (on a bad day) and £1500 (on a good day). Finally, as my Bank grows, the effect of 'compound interest' will begin to have a noticeable effect and then it should really start to take off. I would anticipate that happy-state-of-affairs to begin to make an impact sometime in the Spring of next year.

Just the one!
That said, it is always worth remembering that one of the most 'potent' weapons we have at our disposal is the ability to choose our bets. This ties in with the first two rules of any Investment Strategy:

1st: The Preservation of Capital!
2nd. Never forget rule number one!

All to often people are tempted to to bet on something/anything rather than accept that not betting is often much more profitable in the longer term.
