Comment:

It is possible that I will be 'Off-line' for the next few days due to my wife still being in hospital. Alternatively, I may manage the odd 'slam dunk' i.e. just one or two bets rather than the 10 or so I usually go for. But then something is better than nothing. Sorry for all the cliches in my post today - just shows my mind is not really on it. I apologise for this 'pause' but I find that I cannot give the selections the time and concentration they require (as evidenced in today's results!) whilst my mind is on my wife's health. At the end of the day it is all about getting one's priorities right.

There were 5 other bets I could have taken today that would have ensured a positive R.O.I. but hospital visiting prevented me from being able to analyse them to my satisfaction. They all won and would have turned the small loss into a small profit. Such is life.

Once again I spent more time at the hospital than in front of the trading screen. As a consequence most of the bets were 'minimum bets' resulting in the low R.O.I. I suspect that the next few days will be similar, after which my good lady wife should be back home! Happy days. I will add the graph once Betfair have checked for pornographic content!!!

Another day when I was not fully focused on the task in hand! My dear lady wife is still in hospital and most of my time has been spent there with her. Happily the one trade that I lost was a minimum bet level one and I was just able to recoup the loss by the end of play (not helped by the abandoned meetings at Hereford and Catterick).

Today's R.O.I. is so small that it only shows up under an electron microscope!

Comment:

What a day! The low R.O.I. was due to my only placing minimum bets today. Why? Well I suddenly had to take my wife to hospital and therefore I was unable to watch the markets as I usually do. I suspect that I could have nearly doubled the R.O.I. had I been able to be in front of the screen (however I did manage to cover the Hospital Parking fees! lol)- but hey ho that's the luck of the draw. AND my lovely wife comes first - every time.

And the good news ... I have been able to upload a graph (at long last!). The only drawback is that each 'picture' has to be verified by Betfair to ensure it is decent so each day's graph will be delayed by a day. The graph(s) should start appearing in earnest tomorrow - and will hopefully be self-explanatory.

ADDED NOTE: Due to Betfair's limit of 50 'pictures' I will only be showing graphs at the end of each Month. They may well go up daily - but - at the month end the individual days will be removed and just the last day of the month left on. I hope that makes sense.

Comment:

Sadly I had a losing bet and it is debatable (to me anyway) if I should have taken that particular bet. It was on the border-line of acceptability and I choose wrongly as it turned out. Maybe a little cockiness on my part or maybe plain old-fashioned greed!  I suspect a little more caution (which is code for discipline) is needed from now on. That said the Strike Rate is just about bang on forecast (97.50%). My other 'concern' is that the R.O.I. is higher than my model predicts. On the one hand I am delighted BUT on the other hand I have to ask myself if my RISK is too high. To date I have put it down to surprisingly favourable Odds. However, it may be 'something' that I am doing that is not (or should not be) allowed. I will check into this aspect and report back in due course. That said, a near 15% R.O.I. on the day is not bad.

Only 10 more days to go until the end of the first month.

Comment:

With Musselburgh abandoned and 'unacceptable odds' on a higher than usual number of selections today the R.O.I. was kept below 20%. Even so, the result was more than acceptable. 'Little and often' is a perfectly good way of building up the bank. And 'yes' (for the avoidance of doubt) had the original Bank been £100.00GBP on the 1st January 2019 (which it was) I would now have £1,206.84GBP in the kitty (which I do).
The question is "What will it be by the end of this month?" Answers on a postcard ...
The even better news is that the growth is 'compounded' and therefore gets faster - more quickly - as the Bank grows.
