Another reasonable day, albeit slightly below my desired 5.00% Daily R.O.I.

The graphs/image facility is playing up today so I can't load any graphs yet - but will do so asap.

With reference to my comment yesterday concerning the figures not balancing, I found that I had not updated the revenue on 26th March! Today's figures are now corrected and I have added an additional box "Check Total" to check the balance. There is a difference of 1 penny (£11,049.28 vs £11,049.29) which I have put down to the 'rounding effect' either within my spreadsheet or on the exchanges accounts. I also transposed a figure from the wrong column (in my spreadsheet) that included my £100.00 opening Bank. This too has been corrected.

Only a few bets - but better odds. I must be thankful for small mercies.

I appear to have made an error of £174.98 somewhere in my figures! It may take me a few days to find out 'where' and 'how' it was made and correct it - so please accept my apologies. At worst my mistake represents 1.63% of my profit to date. The good news is that it has been spotted! I shall, of course, report (on here) exactly what happened once I have traced it.

Decent bets appear to be somewhat thin on the ground at the start of this month. Discipline and Patience are the required qualities at times like this.

Just to put things in perspective, I'll start to smile (occasionally!) once the 'Average Daily Profit' reaches the £2,500.00 mark. So, there's a way to go!

No selections met the required criteria today (sadly). Actually I did have one selection but it was a non-runner! Such is life.

However, on a positive note it shows that I am working to my selection criteria - and not looking for something to bet on. In the early days of my betting (a few years back), if I am honest, I would sometimes go looking for the 'next best' possibilities rather than have no bets. A very dangerous approach when working to a 'system' for two reasons. Firstly, it stopped the 'results' be they good or bad from being an accurate reflection of the effectiveness of the 'system'. Secondly, it would all too often result in a loss that was totally unnecessary!

Well, what can I say? No suitable opportunities to end off the month. Sadly, I missed my 'target' by about £500.00.

However, by way of compensation, I've added some more data to the Blog. I'll comment on this below in my Month-End-Report.

Month End Report

This month has seen a significant increase in profit. Profit in March nearly, but not quite, equalled the preceding two months! And this increase has been achieved with less bets - nearly 50% less. The reduction in the number of bets is a direct result of 'tightening-up' my selection criteria. It will be another month or two before the results will confirm (or not!) the correctness of this shift. Obviously I would like more bets - but not at the expense of a lowered Strike-Rate - a metric which in my opinion is central to the effectiveness of my approach. This coming month (April) should see a subtle improvement in the Strike-Rate. That, in turn, should see an improvement in the Profit.

In the background I am working away on the various requirements I will need for my intended AI/Machine Learning Project. A Project that will be funded by the profits from this current project. The data, the software, the hardware and the personnel required are all slowly being 'written up' so that I have a clear plan of action once I reach the £100,000.00 target (assuming of course that I do actually make it!).

This next month should, hopefully, give me a much clearer idea of the timescale. If I do well then the start date could be in a few months. If I do poorly then the start date is likely to be the tail-end of the year. We shall see.

If you have amazing Excel Spreadsheet skills or knowledge of Microsoft AZURE Machine Learning (or other such 'packages'), I'd be happy to 'message' with you from time to time.... who knows where it may lead. The same applies to any brilliant Statisticians and Mathematicians out there. If I am already chatting with you don't worry you are already on my list and under consideration. The new Project will be a team effort.

A reasonable number of bets but the returns were low. Hey ho! I do not expect to reach my self-imposed target of £5K this month (baring miracles!) Alas, tomorrow, Sunday, is usually one of the quietest days of the week.

Side Note:
Whenever I lose a bet I analyse it. I always check to see if there is something I missed. I did so for yesterdays loser and in the process looked at a replay of the race on 'At The Races'. I then rechecked its Form - but this time on the 'ATR' site - the first time I have done so using this website. Low and behold - there was a more detailed form card - which had I seen yesterday would have instantly excluded said loser, based on my selection criteria! I won't cry over spilt milk - but I am delighted that I now have an even better resource against which to check my selections. Previously I had used only the Betfair Form guides etc.

When I have the time I may well revisit my other lost bets to see how many, if any, would have been excluded, not that it will make any difference to my past results. However, it may well have a significant impact on future results!  On every front and in every aspect the aim is to incrementally improve. Once again - little by little.

Not exactly the day I was looking for. The first bet went south and the others (of which there were only 2!) were at such low odds that there was no chance to recoup the loss. Here's hoping the last two days of the month have better opportunities in store.

With today's results in mind it is important to take a long-term view. My approach is certainly not a "get-rich-quick-scheme". Slow and steady and disciplined will enable me to reach the goal. As I said to my good lady wife (when she commiserated with me) "If we did not have days like this I would already be a multi-billionaire!" I can't stress enough that periods like this are to be expected and accepted.
