Well, today's profit was so small that it hardly registered! BUT it was a profit (despite two losses) and therefore complies with Rule No. 1: Conserve Capital. Should I be able to avoid such results between now and the end of the month I have the possibility of reaching the £8,500 mark.

Just managed to get into profit after the first selection blew up in my face. Hopefully I'll manage to get over the £27K mark tomorrow (or is that me tempting fate?). I think I will struggle to hit £9K for this month, however, £8K (which is now in my sights) is still a perfectly respectable monthly profit.

Comment:

One loss today which wiped out the profit and then some. Such is the downside of laying. On analysis, the loss could be claimed to be operator error (once again!). Two runners were withdrawn just before the off and that changed the complex of the race in question. I had the time to trade out of my positions - but chose not to. More fool me!! I have made notes and will not make the same 'mistake' again. I think if the truth be known I was being a little bit arrogant. That will teach me.

To close on a positive ... if I behave myself I have the possibility of making £9K this month.

1 loss today (which I would argue was an 'operator error'!) ensured that the profit was dented somewhat. However, still £120 up on the day - so not too bad. I'll be more careful tomorrow.

For the record, I try and update this Blog each evening. If for some reason I don't, then the most likely reason is that I can't get access my own Blog! This has happened a couple of times this month and there is nothing I can do about it until Betfair manage to correct whatever the problem is. Just thought I would share that.

Another reasonable day - that would have been better had the exchange not gone down part way through the day!

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed a discrepancy between today's figures and yesterdays. This is due to a 'correction' (a positive one I hasten to add) that has been delayed until I received confirmation from 'the powers that be' that a mistake had been corrected. One can never be too careful. For the last couple of weeks the figures were 'carrying' this discrepancy which meant that they did not always add up correctly. I was fully aware of this but decided to do it this way as I did not know when the correction would be (a) agreed and (b) rectified. I'm happy to report that after gentle but firm discussions all has been found in my favour. More to the point the figures you now see are 100% accurate - allowing for the rounding up or down by a penny that sometimes occurs in the system.

To close on an even more positive note, it is theoretically possible that I could hit the £10K mark for the month. Obviously I need all to go well - which basically means two things: Firstly, the markets must be available. Secondly, I must not make any foolish mistakes!
