Isn't it $6m to the winner of the King's Slam!

Yes

The schedule this year is madness where R1 of Cincy is like same day as Canada Finals, who on earth is going to want to play like 12 matches in about 15 days that close to USO? No-one.
By:
I think it's mostly conditions that work against Canada and Cincy. IW and Miami are nice and chill. Maybe a bit too windy at times, but mostly comfortable. Especially Cincy is almost always uncomfortable conditions.
By:
Players didn't really like and play full-throttle in Cincy in prior years either.
By:
you mean the tanked because they had a wedding to attend?
By:
Yes, but that was before Ben Navarro's super new upgrades making it all nice for the players. Cincy was seen as one of the worst Master 1000s for facilities in the past, no longer the case.

It's 17 and under right minor, not 18.
By:
I still remember this year when all the markets at AO involving minors were suspended for ages and we weren't sure if they'd settle them (but they did in the end).
By:
For the purposes of this market, a minor is anyone under the age of 18 at the beginning of the first match of the Main Draw of the tournament.
By:
I'm not really aware of many 17 year olds likely to do anything, there's a few 18, I had to check on Jovic, but she turns 18 in December.
By:
anyway, there's a proper market so we don't need to get involved with this muggy market.
By:
This year you had Andreeva about 5th fav outright and a minor :).
By:
yeah, no threats amongst the 2008 born and younger for the upcoming AO.
By:
unless Mirra draws Emerson Jones and Emerson gets such confidence from beating Mirra that she goes all the way to the final.
By:
As far as I can see they highest ranked player who will be under 18 at AO is Emerson Jones who will get a WC, beyond that, I can't see anyone qualifying, not even sure the others will even be ranked high enough to make qualifying.
By:
Same for men, so there's only going to be 1 minor in the entire draw unless Australia have any others to give WC's to.
By:
They might give Sonobe something given it's the Pacific Slam.
By:
Medvedev might win another match at a slam then.
By:
Don't think Sonobe can compete in the men.

Speaking of Medvedev, when Sinner was close to being bageled, it reminded me of the last time he was bagled, and it was to MedHead back in 2021 at the tour finals, near 4 years, had to look up the last time GOATcaraz was bageled, that was against Tsitsipas Aug 2021
think it's safe to say we've seen the last time both will ever have been bageled. You could clearly see tonight that Jannick was playing the man and not the ball, making early double faults, low 1st serve % and silly unforced errors he normally wouldn't make. He has psychological problems with Carlos, a bit like Federer did with Nadal for so long when their h2h ended up being very lopsided for a long while, something like 20-9 before Fed went of a winning run by getting him on a load of hard courts and then Rafa complaining he wasn't playing enough clay events anymore sneaky fed |

Will the Djokovic diehards start to target Alcaraz soon as he will now be seen as the bigger threat to overtake their hero's slam count? They've been very mad at Sinner lately.
By:
Sinner served very poorly, which is the reverse of what happened at Wimbledon where Alcaraz served very poorly, Sinner was under 50% 1st serves in for the match, very hard to beat Alcaraz with that number alone.
By:
The Djoko diehards already switched once, they were initially on the Alcaraz is overhyped train. I'm old enough to remember PavyG claiming Rune would win more than Alcaraz and wondering why he didn't get the media attention Alcaraz did. They switched heavily after Sinner started owning Djokovic, his drugs ban, Alcaraz gifting Djokovic a few wins, and being the only realistic player to stop Sinner.
I suspect many will just become Alcaraz fans, because they're too far down the anti-Sinner path now, which is annoying because these people are annoying. |
By:
Really if your concern is Djoko's records as it will be from their pov, they need a 3rd guy badly. Cos so currently Alcaraz/Sinner are on 6/4. But it's easily conceivable that they could win about 90% of the slams over next 5 years, in fact if anything on the face of it it looks probable, and they will still be in their 20s in 5 years time.

Caramba, is your flag Erika Andreeva pregnant?

Whilst Novak has done well to reach all 4 semi's this year, let's be honest, apart from Carlos in Oz, he's beaten a load of mugs, he was sub 1.4 to win the first four rounds at all 4 slams, it's more a damning indicment on the rest of the field even prime Zverev couldn't knock him out at Roland Garros.
It's literally mission impossible for him to beat Sinner or Alcaraz in the best of 5 now, let alone back to back, it's the modern day equivilent of doing that back to back against 2 of the big 3 in their prime, and how many times did that happen, can only remember Berdych doing at Wimbledon 2010 the losing to Nadal in the final, course we all know outside of slams about one of the greatest runs of all time, Nadalbandian 2007 Madrid Masters, even then, it's too hard to see Novak beaten them back to back in a masters at his age. |
By:
They're already setting records in terms of you've never had the same slam final played 3 times in a year. Honestly expect it to be at least 3 again next year, the only real thing stopping these finals seems to be injury. I'm not sure we've ever seen a gulf this wide between the top players and the rest and it's all happened so quickly relatively in a few years.
By:
That's the point though mes, the rest of the field are mugs. Djokovic has beaten a number of guys who are meant to be the next guys this year, Zverev, Fritz, these are the next best players.

By:
A young Djokovic beat #3 Murray, #2 Nadal and #1 Federer in QF, SF and F of 2007 Cincy.
By:
yeah, the gulf is the biggest I've ever seen between the best and the rest, said early outside hope Fonseca may come into it, or he may be another hype job.

Novak doesn't count as he's a big 3 player, or became one
