I think it's time they made women's finals best of 5 like they used to do for ATP Masters finals, whilst you might still get the same outcome, at least fans in the stadium and at home get more value for money with fitness coming into it later on.

how is 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 more value for money than 6-2, 6-0? And for close matches quality would go down in set 4 and 5, so a close 3 setter would be preferable.

they would do best of 5 for the final of the WTA finals, but there was not much support amongst the players. In particular Graf was against it.

if you're paying for a ticket to see two elite athletes, and you have a choice over 1 hour or 1.30min, you'd choose the latter

Amazing that Iga will pick up as much pay as the men's winner will, apart from one match, she's barely played any tennis!

Paolini did tremendous to even make the final, and will now be mocked for only winning 3 games against Iga.

Little do the haters know that 3 games against Iga at RG is a tremendous achievement.

If Naomi keeps progressing, Sabalenka isn't on her period next year, with Mirra being one year older and Rebellova finding form again and staying healthy, maybe one of them can put up a fight against Iga next year.

Out of the non-retired players, only Venus Williams with fourteen cups has more than Siniakova's eight titles.

...and Gauff finally claims her first doubles trophy after a few previously ultimately unsuccessful deep runs, which is probably nice for her as well.

is it too late for Coco switch nationality to Czechia and have a Siniakova/Gauffova pairing at the Olympics?

If I remember correctly, the ITF introduced a Dustin Brown rule a while ago that says players who have represented a country in Davis or Billie Jean King Cup can not wildly switch countries to then represent their new country at ITF country events, which the olympics probably ultimately are.

....and Czechia might have some tougher citizen naturalisation rules to begin with than someone coming along with "Hey, can I please have Czech citizenship? I played Ostrava once and I gel with Katerina Siniakova!"

Yeah it really didn't feel like a slugfest despite the 5 setter

Carlos best is too good for Alex for sure. Though Alex's 5th gear is too good for Carlos in 3rd gear

Not sure though good from Carlos so far - but he has shown dips, so wouldn't be surprised he wins but still drops an odd set here.

5 of 7 games served into the sun have resulted in breaks. It's not the wind that's the problem.

Zherev broken 3 times Alacaraz 2 times. (For 1 game on Alcaraz's serve there was cloud cover and he

held.)It's not just the serve, but seeing spots during the next shot.

I wondered earlier why the sun was in their eyes at 3 in the afternoon, since tennis courts are

nearly always orientated North/South. Just looked on Google earth and ,surprisingly, Roland Garros

courts are SW/NE.

It is why I hate playing on clay courts, the bounce is often to different on different spots

the court changes during the set as the watering of the court between them dries off more and more. Higher bounces, not good for Carlos.

Not a massively great standard, but flashes of great play at times.

Spot on stu ! Nerves and maybe not 100% right physically, so could well dominate here, especially if Sinner doesn't fully acclimatise to the surface as well as others
