Looked at the forecast for Saint-Malo. Not liking the prospects of them completing the first round of qualification of the WTA125 there today.

And the rain forecast for the entire week is mediocre at best for now.

Spaniards need to get a grip and not qualify then.

isn't that what Marketa did to screw Muchova over?

If he can use his protected ranking, then he is sure in. It's at 9.

woah, set Dasha.

Alize should have gotten injured/taken a hiatus when she had a good ranking and come back this year with the good PR to end her career at RG and the Olympics.

It's admirable that Sakatsume tries her luck at European clay this season instead of playing the asian hard court ITFs. Shows a willingness to improve and become a better player.

Wiesbaden this week is only the second time she's playing European clay at the age of 22. Had previously played Roland Garros qualification. Also played Antalya three times in 2021 and the past two weeks in Hammamet on red clay outside of Europe.

White women can jump!

....White men too, with poles at tools.
By:
SamuelMertensBertens
When: 28 Apr 24 13:54
they need Iga?
By:
edy
When: 28 Apr 24 13:56
Yes, either airplane Iga to piggy back on, or those other poles that you use in pole vaulting.

speaking of Iga, and other top WTA players. Let's say they do really well at the big clay lead up events and go deep in all of them, then they will have played in 5 of the 6 weeks leading up to RG with the only break being the week before. You could argue "oh well there's a day in between matches at these two week Masters events so not as physically demanding as before", but there's the mental demand of being in tournament mode.

Have you guys heard anything about Pegula (mostly) giving up doubles? Gauff is playing with Townsend (poor Leylah) this week and Pegula not playing at all.

Jess is injured, not playing Madrid

doesn't like like Jess will finish top 10 this year, injured, ill, not playing all that well which might have to do with the former two.

yeah you were smart, citing the Marketa/Muchova situation of the previous Olympics

By:

Marketa was cast as such a villain for doing so, and now everybody is "Yay, Rafa can just use PR!"
By:

When: 28 Apr 24 14:12
Yeah well, Rafa would only take the spot of some lame random Spaniard, likely Carballes Baena, who is all vindictive and petty.

Vondrousova took the spot from the woman who possibly made Rebel Wilson realise that true love is possible.

agree. it's better to skip Stuttgart, lose sorta last 16/QF stage at Madrid, have a deep run in Rome to the SF or final, rest the next week, then win RG!

I think you can go all out Stuttgart, skip Madrid or tank early, then try your hardest in Rome, rest a week and go into RG relatively fresh. But pretty much we agree.

such a cool WTA day, with this Dash/Nastulya clash, followed by Mirra, followed by Jasmine's recent cool tennis, followed by Danielle!!

SamuelMertensBertens

yeah, when Muchova played guitar for Rebel she was all "ah true love really exists", whereas if she had done the same for ww, he would have been all "Meh".

She's a juggler, a dog lover, and she's having her best-ever @WTA

Meet 18-year-old Sara Bejlek, who'll be the next player tasked with cooling off the red-hot Elena Rybakina at the @MutuaMadridOpen.

oh uh, is her career gonna be derailed by her love for dogs as was the case with Carina Witthöft?

that is true, but the older they get the more difficult it becomes to combine your devotion to dogs with being a professional tennis player.

Look how enthusiastic that dog looks as she makes him hit his own face with his paw. He's loving her and the situation as much as she does.
