@Mike_Dickson_DM · 7h At the US Open Dan Evans takes opener 6-3 vs Brazil’s Monteiro. You’d hope for at least 3 GB wins today. 4 would be very decent, 5 outstanding and 6 the Hallelujah chorus. Pretty sure we totally flopped on this. |

can still be 3. Evans, Norrie, Raducanu (just a formality now with Brady's withdrawal).

Norrie not looking like winning. All went wrong immediately when Konta withdrew given she would have been expected to beat Kiki.
Guess it would be phrased as disappointing that Watson and Dart both lost, especially by the odds, but tbh I expected both to lose. Don't even know how Watson stays ranked top 100 really, she never wins matches it feels like compared to others ranked similarly. Murray of course was expected to lose and would have been the hail mary. |
|
By:
It's actually incredible to me that Watson goes up to British #1 after this. Just how is she ranked 56 in live rankings, it feels like she wins a few matches on grass and doesn't win a match the rest of the year. She doesn't even play that often compared to some ranked around her rank.

@JulieEngbrecht · 10m Dammit it absolutely sucks that Andy Murray drew Tsitsipas in the first round. It was a good match. @steftsitsipas needs to get vaccinated! #GetVaccinated |

Dart was always going to be a big concern today having cramped so badly the other day.

@TennisNaked · 12m It is imperative that @pmouratoglou and @steftsitsipas get punished for cheating They simply don’t play by the rules Tennis is a sport where both should abide to NO-COACHING rules @andy_murray is absolutely right to be PISSED OFF His opponent cheated #USOpen2021 |

It's also very nice to see crowds turning against Tsitsipas. Got booed at both Cincy and here for his bathroom shenanigans.

He is highly unlikable. He will go the Novak route I think. Try to charm but people will have his card marked, and it will irk him.

@BarrJulie · 13m @steftsitsipas you need to take a long hard look in the mirror the next toilet break you have maybe longer than 8 minutes Pouting face nobody likes cheats, you will never ever win with cheating, bad sportsmanship @usopen hope you listen to @andy_murray |

Since resumption since pandemic, over a year, Heather has won 7 main draw tour level matches, 4 of which were in UK, another one was vs Burrage in Abu Dhabi lol. Not even like she won loads of other matches, won 2 matches in ITF's, and 3 matches in qualifying.
She has a bunch of points from pre-pandemic who fall off who knows when including title in Acapulco, final in Tianjin. Things that happened donkeys ago. |

Pretty sure there are other random mugs benefiting, at the top big beneficiaries obviously Andreescu and Kenin. But I bet there's other random mugs like Heather way over ranked, just Heather stands out.
What's ridiculous for Heather and where another massive flaw in these ranks lies is she is actually rising up ranks atm despite flopping because she wasn't defending anything here anyway, whereas others are, and people are losing points from eg. USO last year before she loses points from Tianjin 2 years ago. |

Part of Djokovic's lack of appeal is that it's very transparent that he expects to be loved by everyone and that he gets mad if he isn't adored for every action and every step of the way.
|
|
By:
I wouldn't say Djokovic is that likeable tbh. He has way too many things that rub a lot of people the wrong way, think of celebrations on court at times, on top of all the other on court antics. He knows how to suck up to a crowd in an interview, but I think it's probably quite transparent as Edy says. Also weirdly for someone who clearly knows the right thing to say at times, he obviously has a massive knack of saying some very silly things that must given any PR manager a headache, he's done it on a wide range of topics over the years too, so it seems he's quite tone death in other ways to keep falling for some of the traps he has.

By:
I'm not talking about his pandering, with likeable I mean he's charismatic and funny, he shows good sportsmanship by giving an opponent a point if umpire did a bad call etc. Of course he has many things that rub people the wrong way. Many of the things you list go under the bad judgment. I do think he had good intentions with his Adria tour, but that was obviously a terrible idea. The PTPA I think he genuinely wants to make things better for players. My point anyway, was that for all is faults he isa way more likeable than Tsitsipas who has no endearing qualities other than his looks. And that will only help with a certain demographic.

what a bizarre thing to write you would prefer a plastic insincere robot who delibertaely tries to avoid anything controversial? Novak has 10 times the personality of Rafa or Roger he is a better player too and isn;t loved this says moe about the tennis crowd than it does about him Roger fans are the type of people who cheered for Hulk Hogan in the 1980s |
