I usually go for an early match, such is my impatience, but have today gone for one of the late matches.

In a big shock to everyone, Maria Sakkari lost against The Smiling Assassin Martina Trevisan after the Greek failed to take advantage of either of her two match points in the tiebreak. Sakkari was not her only victim as she also took Angoose down at the same time.
To make matters even better for the man that picked Iga, the pick of n88uk, which was a literal pick 'em, also lost in three sets. That leaves SamuelMertensBertens as our lone survivor. He grinded hard, he grinded long, and he always gave his best effort - just the way it's meant to be on clay. Even more so in the heavy autumn conditions. Congratulations SaMeBe on your first Roland Garros women's trophy, and 7th (or so) slam overall! |
