Guess I'll just have to rely on Alex Eala developing a serve then.

shame about Qinwen and no more tournaments in China. You can't count on the freebies that is lower level Chinese tournaments and will have to rely on her winning elsewhere.

Tennis Talk 2022: Vol 3 (Australian Open) By edy on 29 Jan 22 07:56 Hey SaMeBe, flag Petra Marcinko. She just won the AO juniors and already turned heads on the ITF tour last season (beat Nara in her very first match as a pro) It's testament to Edy's sphinxlike activity around flag-selling that she lasted this long ![]() This sadistically conceived format still has years to run but we might just look back on today as one of the key twists in the matrix |

I have a query that is probably worth bringing up now.
It's to do with clarifying the 'can't get points for things that hvae already happened' rule. Firstly, let say there is an unpicked player that meets criteria, is in form and has qualified for a big event. The obvious example here is Séléna Janicijevic who has just gone through three decent players in qualies for the loss of one set. Let's say she goes on a run, gets to Week 2 of the AO and then somebody flags her. Can they get points from an event that is already underway when she is picked? (This would give the picker a significant edge imo as there is a possible 3.5 points for winning a slam and whereas for example when you picked Emma after Wimbledon she then had to win ten games to win a slam later that year, a player could potentially be picked with three or less matches left to play) Secondly, lets say someone picks a player after they have done something that would have been awarded points. can they then get points from the player doing the same thing again? eg Let's say you had picked Linda after she won the Chennai Open. Would you still be able to get points from her doing that 'thing that's already happened' again, ie if she won another 250 or higher? Just feel it's probably worth clarifying this one rule before one of these situations actually arise. By and large the rules have been effective, clear and covered most bases so you structured this well. You also set what seems like a sensible points target (although the way the womens' comp is going, one or more of us may have expired by the time the comp ends ) |

I'm convinced there will be points distributed soon. With the likes of Zheng, Noskova and Kostyuk it's only a matter of time. Then there are some others looking to break through soon and with the older guard being phased out over the years and new players getting picked I every year I am not too worried about a stalemate here. Unlike with the maiden Slam winner comps ... ![]() |
|
By:
If Zheng was a vulture she would have already won 250's but that is not her strategy.
|
|
By:
There should be some Slam winners in our list above or have collectively done a really poor job.
|
|
By:
I do think most of these players will achieve their most meaningful successes between 21 and 27 years old anyway.
I wasn't at all bothered Noskova didn't win her 500 final because it's inevitable she'll picks up main tour titles and there's only point for that anyway. The ranking surge and the experience are much more important at this stage. VJK has experienced so much.. a junior slam winning year, then a 'buzz' year, then a sort of consolidation year and now a new year and she's still only 17. They're all still so young and the headline grabbing teenage slam finals don't come along very often. |
|
By:
I officially give up Diane Parry.
This is simply a personal choice and nothing to do with the rules as set by Caramba. I would just prefer to play with picks that have not yet played on the main tour. |
