The only things I have been buying in the last few weeks has been fresh veg and fish/meat, milk and eggs, and never more than I would buy normally. Shops are pretty much full here though.

If the government here had quelled peoples concerns earlier in the week, it might have helped

The one thing Ireland can do is feed itself with having ANY food imports, right now Cool

yeah, I was wondering if that plays a part too to shelves being empty, import issues? can't just be because of ww's?

Italy has been hit terribly, but Spain is baaaad too. On day 17 since first death in Italy, that number was 366, that same number for Spain (which was yesterday) was 831.

UK really should be able to produce close to enough meat/dairy products for the population in normal times.

the scary bit is what I consider empty now might be considered lots when I go there 2 weeks from now.
Like 1,5 week ago I thought "wow this is crazy, no pasta, no toilet paper, no soap" but the rest of the shelves were pretty much like usual. Completely different story yesterday.

I wonder how the Chinese economy will fare. On one hands I think it will boom because how they managed to flatten the curve, but I can also see punishment from other nations, in particular the US. I bought some funds last week, the China one the only one doing well.

Where's the safety net?

It's gone. We've been telling you for a decade it's gone.

No,  I mean the safety net for me and my respectable, hardworking family, not the one for you scumbags.+

I've been using the word 'freeloaders' sarcastically.

But this-- "It's gone. We've been telling you for a decade it's gone" -- is spot on.
