maybe it's like what they say about surstömming, if you mix it with the right stuff instead of eating it by itself, it's ok, but I haven't really encountered that with onion or garlic yet, possibly with the exception of onion hidden in a hamburger.

for me the ideal burger is just meat cheese and raw onion (= the quarterpounder)

Why is Portugal in such bad shape Edy. I saw a thing ages ago now of wages in countries and how they're rising and how in the UK we're getting left behind most the rest of Western Europe but Portgual was also very low, much lower than the UK.

Portugal has traditionally been a bit of the poorhouse of modern western Europe. Why that is specifically I can't really say. At a guess, a mixture of a bad/unsuited education system for an industry that simply isn't there.
