Serena is still in comeback mode, if one player can really test her fitness levels by moving her about the court it's Kerber, in general she's never really had a problem playing lefties.

Serena 2-0.

fair or not;

@alex_macpherson
I don't think it was that easy per se - Mladenovic and Giorgi both played towards the upper end of their abilities - but it did consist mostly of hard hitters averse to long rallies, and no one who brings anything like Kerber's skillset to the court

truth to be told, serena had a soft draw, full of mugs, some of whom pushed her and would have beaten her if they weren't gibbering mental wrecks (yes, kiki, i'm looking at you).

I'm not saying she can't win another slam, of course she can, and a good run in, and i'd have her favourite for flushing meadows, but this draw got her nowhere near ready to play a ferocious and finely tuned carebear.

Congrats Angie.

Actually there isn't, its been proved that sports women don't lose any of their previous talent/speed after giving birth, plenty of women have gone back to performing to their highest level after giving birth (jessica ennis, liz mcolgin and most recently Laura Kenny (trott)), in fact its been proved in some cases its improved their level because of the increasing hormones after giving birth.

no? he was once prevented from being allowed into the Royal Box because he wasn't wearing the correct attire? so would be surprised if that rule has changed.

Given how much money the UK Government spunks on wars and £20,000 stones outside of hospitals because they have great healing powers, I don't think anyone can really preach with confidence about people who live in tax havens. The entire BBC coverage of the women's singles this year was a massive tribute to Serena Williams and they were clearly devastated she got beaten. I've never seen such biased sports coverage. Hardly a day went by without them telling viewers what an inspiration she was and what an incredible achievement it was for her to be back playing at the top level so soon after child birth. Kerber hardly received any coverage in comparison. She apparently just ruined the story so they couldn't eulogise Serena more after she won.

The draw appeared to be fixed to help Serena too. The convenient 25 seeding which placed her in a very easy quarter and an incredibly easy half, with her only supposed threats being serial Slam choker Svitolina, Wozniacki, who had never made it past the 4th round at SW19, and clueless baseline basher Keys. Meanwhile, the top half was loaded with the likes of Kvitova and Muguruza (both former Wimbledon champions), recent French Open winner Halep and Kerber. Not to mention big up-and-comers like Kasatkina, Osaka and Ostapenko. You can't tell me that was mere coincidence.

The fact is, Serena didn't come up against a decent player until the final. And you don't hear Azarenka going round telling everyone she is doing it for all the mums out there, and other pro female players who have left the tour to have a child and come back haven't received the same sort of coverage. The whole Serena deification by the Beeb perfectly fits its agenda to promote political correctness.
