That's just a nonsense what they're doing, there's a time and place to make protests, it's not when you're own national anthem is playing

this is nonsense to begin with.

and edy should be able to confirm this but i'm pretty sure on the whole Germany is more socially conservative than we are

No it's not nonsense, you can protest during the game when it's ongoing, half time, whenever, but when the National Anthem is playing? I'm sure their war dead would be proud.

falling into the same hole as all the mugs in the US are in thinking it's anything to do with troops, flags, songs anyhow

anthem doesn't play before German matches anyway

it's not just you but there are an awful lot of people who 'support' protests before putting lots of qualifiers on where and when they can be, meaning they don't actually support them

I know what their protest is about, but what you seem to be missing is the fact that the National anthem and the flag represents the whole country especially those that fought and died for it, protesting by kneeling down during it is a massive sign of disrespect, why protest then? many other opportunities to do so anywhere but at that time, Germany have no time for Trump in gerenal, so any chance to protest against him them will.

These Germans kneeling down picking up someone else's cause, reminds me of those silly middle prats that broke into London City Airport at 5 or 6 in the morning, laid down on the runaway and held out 'BLACK LIVES MATTER' protests signs.

Not one the protestors were black.

Just white kids who feel the need to do something as a way to apologise for the wrongs of Britain's past, aka Colonialism.

there is fair argument to say that many protests get hijacked by middle class posh types actually

which often further proves the points being made by those originally that they were being ignored until some white people came along

good example of this was the Grenfell stuff

there was a protest with many of the residents or those nearby and then there was one hijacked and created elsewhere by Stand Up to Racism (SWP)

Let's be honest here: Nobody cares if it's just black people protesting for their rights. They need goodwilled and active white people to join their cause if they are to get anywhere.

We don't play the national anthem ahead of games. You're welcome.

I know you don't edy, I was talking about the Yanks protests.

This isn't even some kind of irrational, left field statement, it's simple stuff, pick and choose any time you like to protest about what you want, but during what it meant to be your own national anthem when you know full well how ultra proud American's are of their flag and anthem and for them, the flag and anthem is symbolic of their military, and we all know how much they love their military.

Germans I get, Merkel herself is the type of person that pushes away German flags to wave when it's handed to her https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi0dffrSmPI

only happened because people have had it drilled into them that flag = military when really that is quite silly. most effective protest is when it is at its most impactful time, some muggy ht protest in comparison would be nothing

Regarding the US: They were never heard before. If nobody listens to you, you need to up the ante. If you make yourself unpopular with a few nationalist snowflakes that desperately want to misunderstand what your protest is about, so be it.
By:

Trump has successfully changed the narrative on this I think and also now that the protests are some sort of anti-Trump thing for most rather than what they were meant to be, is not good

There isn't a big story. It was a victory party, some drunk guy gave Merkel the mini flag, it was beneath her, like it should be, to go wave it around and poke someone's eye so she put it away.

Do you see anyone ever apart from Nigel wave around lil flags to celebrate elections?
