Kohlschreiber the obvious one to have done it and I'm sure others have

Oh yer I forgot about Kohlschreiber admitting to it.

would expect Tomic to have done it but he usually does a super quick tank instead

The problem is though Caramba is she does so many signs you dunno what she's meaning by it. She might just be saying to AMG, not I actually am about to retire. It can also mean I am done for example (ie. going to lose).

"That will give a big Woohoo"
Classic Kevin Skinner pun. |

didn't know Latvian sign language was different from the rest of the world. Or maybe it's just an Alona thing.
By:
The commentary on BT Sport which is standard British uppity or well Bradnam is saying he's amazed AMG sat back in her box and he would have left the court. Surely it's just part of the job though, rough with the smooth. If you start doing that, that's the road to breaking down the relationship and getting sacked basically, and realistically her being with Osty is better than the other way around, as Osty will clearly have coaches queuing up to work with her.
By:
they seem to work well together most of the time anyway
By:
No but that sign can just mean I'm done rather than I quit. In other words I'm done in this match, I'm not gonna win rather than I'm going to retire.

Ash Barty is flying, up 63 50 on a fatigued & possibly hampered Ostapenko, who called an MTO after the 1st for her right wrist. AB focused. Lol that MTO defo wasn't for right wrist, they were just taking her pulse. And Courtney is on site ffs. |
By:
If it was right wrist you would just retire, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't.

AMG knows Alona better than Bradman does I'm sure. But that OCC was not good behavior from Alona. AMG might need to have a Sumyk talk with her and put Osty on the naughty step, but that doesn't have to be in public.

9 matches in 10 days is a lot esp when the last 5 were 3 sets, I think the tired excuse was legitmate tbh.
I think AMG is actually the sort of person Penko needs which is probably why they're still together and mostly working well, she's not a yes woman, seems quite stern, Penko knows she needs someone like that to kick her ar$e into gear. Would be surprised if that ended. |
By:
Does Puntinseva still work with the coach she humilated on court ?
By:
is her boyfriend, no?
By:
It wasn't offensive though, it was more childish. Sumyk was literally told to fuck off at times. I dunno why she called her in first place though as clearly she had checked out and wasn't going to listen to anything, so why bother?

maybe not offensive, but disrespectful.
I also think AMG is good for her. |
By:
Osty also wants someone to kick her in the arse I think, I don't think she actually wants a "yes man", I think she generally wants someone to tell her it as it is (though on days like today doesn't really matter if there's nothing there).
But Osty will move on as she just needs a more professional team. Like atm Osty doesn't work with AMG that much really, it's not like AMG is with her in Latvia, she's just at tournaments, that's not that often when you think about it, and it's not a great setup really (who knows what off season plan is though). She badly needs someone to help with serve, no real sign of that happening right now, and she's clearly fully aware of this too. |
By:
AMG is great, Oosty gets very grumpy and rude when she's tired or losing. AMG should put her in her place now.
By:
At some point someone will get in her managers ear and say I can do this and that for Osty and that's how it will work. She will be one of the most desirable players to work with on tour so you will get this as attaching yourself to someone like this has a lot of upside (look at what AMG gained from it for example).

Btw since when did Beijing put these sorta matches on first Saturday?
This is tomorrow's OOP: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DK4yinfWsAEBx9O.jpg Norm they put a few garbage matches on Saturday at most? |

that's what I said above at 12:08, don't know who'd she's hire if AMG left though. also, always have said that OCC should be banned anyway, it's entertaining for us, but if they actually want parity with the men it should end, it's meant to be an individual sport, and you never really see the likes of Serena using it because she wants to be seen in the same light as the men, independant. |
By:
I was responding to your post lol. There's plenty of coaches out there. Hard to just pluck a name out of thin air, but many of the top names around would hardly let her get away with bs.
I hate OCC too, I don't think it gives a good representation of players in general because too often players are only calling it it when in a bad mood in first place thus doesn't paint them in a good light. |
By:
Like you think how many of WTA's top names have been made to look utter mugs by OCC at some point, it's hardly what you want.
By:
If I was a coach, I'd only agree to work with someone on the basis we'd have no OCC, esp as you're mic'd up, trying to work things out for yourself in the heat of the moment is meant to be character building, OCC is basically just mollycoddling a player over the line, they need to think for themselves.
By:
There is defo times players use it to their benefit. Stuff like today though, what was the point, when Osty called it in 2nd set she had no interest in the match anymore, wtf was the point of calling the coach, to vent? But she barely did that, she only said about 3 words.

Aga must be seething that she couldn't play Wuhan this year. She would have loved to vulture this. Barty vs Garcia/Sakkari final ffs.

Would not be surprised if the final is only watched by 10% of the capacity.

Dudi Sela retired mid match today in Shenzhen just before the start of the Yom Kippur, one of the most important days in Judaism. José MorgadoVerified account @josemorgado 4m4 minutes ago Dudi asked to play earlier, didn't get that request. Jewish can't work or eat during the Yom Kippur |
