What does "bye" mean in wsopen.com results list? It says: round 1: http://www.wsopen.com/Results/draws/ Grigor Dimitrov vs bye Grigor dimitrov goes to second round. He is against Feliciano Lopez who won against Hyeon Chung (KOR) I see the text "bye" as an opponent with many players. My guess is that its not a player and this player who is against "bye" goes straight to round 2 without an opponent in round 1. Is it right? Can someone why is it like this ? Thanks. |

At some tournaments the highest ranked players go straight into round 2, they get a "bye" through round 1

because just from there early games, you can see her tactics are poor for this matchup. she's not even giving herself the best chance to trouble Keys and at least make her a bit uncomfortable. I guess that's poor advice from the coach? But the best players are able to work these things out for themselves once mature enough and make adjustments on the fly.
