in fact, the more i think about it, the more off it seems.
Sharapova's largely been playing herself this week. kiki can expose her movement and take time away from her. of course, if it descends to a real scrap and a battle of wills, masha wins, but I can't have sharapova at this price given how she's been priced up against Vinci, Makarova and Kontaveit. It's even money if we extrapolate from those prices. |

With her winning, and thereby earning a spot in qualifying, they can deny her a WC and avoid criticism, whereas if she loses a WC of some kind will be their only way of having her in the tournament.

something that hasn't been brought up I think, is that if she will play qualifiers, that's gonna be really rough on the three players that will draw her there. Whereas I don't think that should be taken into consideration, there might be some seething about that.
