Andy Murray has revealed the name of his newborn daughter with wife Kim Sears, and British tennis fans will be delighted.
The baby girl, who weighed 8lbs 10oz when born on Sunday morning, will be called Kylie Alexis Murray, with Andy quick to hail the influence of two of his British team-mates in the decision. He said: "The Davis Cup was one of the highlights of my career, and I couldn't have done it without Kyle Edmund. If we had had a boy it would have been called Kyle as he did more for my career than anyone else has done, so as it was a girl Kylie was the obvious choice".
But what of Kylie's middle name, Alexis? "That's all down to one of the most inspiring players I've ever had the privilege to play with - Alex Bogdanovic. I remember the weekend we got relegated to the Euro African Zone after losing to Austria. I won both my singles easily, and he got turned over in 4 sets by both Melzer and Peya. But goddammit, those two sets he won were two of the best sets of tennis I ever saw. I thought then that I would be proud to name a child after him, and that feeling has not wavered over the years".
