Judy gets some criticism for not getting us out. But really we've never actually had a chance. Last year we had a reasonable team to get out, but were never going to beat Belarus with Vika in the final.

The year before we were in the same group as Halep's Romania.

That is the only 2 years I think Judy was in chance, so we've never actually had a chance under her. Would have done this year if Konta played, but is that her fault?

That should say only 2 years I think Judy was in charge.

As a Melbournian I can tell you that river is the absolute pitts (the Yarra river)
By:

When: 31 Jan 16 23:27
It looks the pits from the pictures.

There was some stuff on Twitter, about how it can't be as bad as The Thames and AO ribbed about a Wimbledon winner wouldn't want to jump into the Thames.

But according to research it's far worse than the Thames.

It was a lot cleaner when Courier jumped in it.. I think about 20 drunken backpackers have drowned in it since then...

The Thames is actually supposedly relatively clean for a major city river.
By:

When: 31 Jan 16 23:28
Probably because we wouldn't get major industrial work just dump toxic sh*t in the river.

Why did the Yarra river get dirtier? Our European rivers used to be super dirty, often reaching toxic levels, but have cleaned up considerably since the 70s and 80s. Would've expected it to be a similar story in Australia

Well according to what I posted yesterday, major industry are dumping sh*t in there despite attempts to stop it.

And stuff like that will be far worse than rubbish blowing into it etc.

no surprise to hear that German rivers are dirty and smelly

The Thames definitely doesn't look clean, so to hear that it's relatively clean, and how bad the Yarra is, makes me think the Yarra must look like sh*t, and tbh it does in the pictures of Angie in it.

it were the communist romanians and czechs who put all the dirt into the rivers of course. As you might or might not be aware, rivers don't always halt at country borders.

Looking at $125k calendar.

This seems a cool event.

Bol Open
Bol, Croatia
$125,000 – Clay – 32S/16Q/16D
Singles Draw – Doubles Draw

Also there is a not a single $125k in China this year Shocked. I vaguely remember reading something about China is already looking to cut back. But you wonder if it's CEO influence. Given there are 3 $125k's in US this year (2 are new).

That event is the 2nd week of Roland Garros though, seems a crappy place for it. Surely better to have these events in the build up to Roland Garros.

I liked the Chinese 125ks Sad Is at least the event from the rogue chinese province still on the calendar?

Taiwan is still there if that's what you mean.

Dalian and Nanchang folded. New events in San Antonio (2nd week of Indian Wells, now that makes sense). West Hempstead (apparently this is on red clay during same week as Rome), and Bol.

Dirk is expected to be rested. Keep an eye on the mavs' twitter. They usually publish an injury report shortly before the game
