It's obvious it's to do with tradition, because there are no logical reasons for it. Because the most common argument against internet sales is it rules out people who don't have access to the internet. But a lot of those people and probably more are ruled out by forcing you to camp overnight anyway (really it close to rules out any families full stop).

It's also hugely impractical as it means you have to take 2 days off work just to see 1 day of play at Wimbledon etc.

BBC's good commentators are all on outside courts anyway. Eg. the commentary on the Vika match is good (with Anne Keothavong who obviously works on BT Sport on the tour throughout the year), but the usual array of mugs normally get used on CC and C1.
