What a b*tch attitude from genie. After this handshake story best she could do was to bring the bacon home at least. No she decided to punish crowd and papers.

is it really a good thing for tennis if one of the top young up and comers is turning into a horrible mug like this (though, yen team rising so perhaps all is not lost)

By:
stacey shouldn't have bangwagoned her so hard
By:
it's definitely not good. we need to understand what's actually happening
By:
there's also a difference between her losing a couple of matches and spiralling like this I think
By:
Someone else will rise, so I don't think it matters. Someone has to be winning and in the spotlight.

The thing is. I've never bought into the we need x to rise for the good of tennis arguments. Because marketability is heavily linked to results, so if someone wins they automatically become marketable, because people like winners.
Even the reverse. So when people say without Serena tennis would be dead or whatever, but without Serena a crapload of big titles would be getting distributed elsewhere and other names would be bigger than they are. |
