Well, just maybe some sisters and brothas in her familytree got "lucky" betting today. It`s clearly not a performance of good will.

It's a round robin, exhibition, WTA match.
Report lurka January 6, 2015 11:16 AM GMT
not even a tour event. no ranking points. It's a glorified exhibition, warm up tourney. A bit of fun, and she's taking it that seriously.

who backed her at 1/7 Laugh

you should have been aware that just 2 days before she was asking for an expresso!?! at the change over.. after losing the 1st set 0-6 to Penneta...

I reckon serena will pull out of the Ozzie open, something is amiss.  Fatigue, injury or just getting smashed from behind senseless every night by Patrick Mouratoglou , I don't know, but something is well amiss.  Even if she puts no effort into her shots she could beat anyone outside the WTA top 20 but I have a feeling there is zero left in tank for her this month.  The worst you can do is lay at 3s and if she starts the tourni, cash out for no gain.
Report wooky January 8, 2015 12:09 PM GMT
Serena may still look like the best in the world and on her day can beat anyone but she'll be 34 this year, age catches up with everyone. She's wasted her chance of getting the most grand slams of any female, she wont get anymore.
Report GREEDISGOOD January 8, 2015 5:28 PM GMT
she was absolute dog sh1te against safa today.   I wouldn;t lay this williams brother at 3s but defo at sub 2s if she goes deep in two weeks time.

I remember Serena being out of shape, unseeded and almost universally written off prior to the Australian Open of 2007.  Even before the final of that tournament she was written off at around a 2/1 underdog before she annihalated Sharapova.  She was written off last year after early exits at the French and Wimbledon before she went on to win the US Open without dropping a set and barely breaking sweat.  Expectation is a pressure for her and being written off seems to be the best possible motivator for her.  She is motivated for tournaments that matter and you cant really expect her to be fine tuned or completely focused for the Hopman cup.  Time will catch up with her one day but very dangerous to write her off on the basis of a poor showing at the Hopman Cup.  She won the last two tournaments that matter (US Open and Tour Champs)

tbh I think it's a motivational thing and the writing is on the wall, what is left for her to win, what left does she want to achieve? when you've travelled the world 17 years on the trot and picked up 18 slams it's hardly surprising she can't be bothered with little tournaments, she will no doubt pick herself up for the aussie but she will lose to someone younger and more hungry in the second week before announcing her retirement at the US open this year.

She only won YEC because Halep revived her after having bagelled her, being dead and buried

Doesn't matter how she won; the fact is she won and Halep did not.

back then , a few months ago, she was at least fit and slightly toned.  so i would of expected of her to beat halep like she did.  however have u seen  serena practise lately, she was on tennis channel yesterday, she clearly has put on a bit of weight.  her footwork is still non existent, against a top 20 player in this tourni she will get thrashed.

some right idiots in this thread that wrote off Serena because of the Hopman Cup Laugh
Report GREEDISGOOD January 28, 2015 11:23 PM GMT
she still is a fat lump. nothing near her best.  in what looked a difficult draw , the draw has fallen apart for her and she will prob get a bye into the final to face shaza
